Just watched a heavyweight bout on Sky Sports which ended in one guy being decked and knocked out. There were a few youngsters, about 2/3 years old, at ringside in mothers' laps, and at least 7/8 others whose ages ranged from about 7 - 12.

I was quite taken aback that not only do people see fit to take virtual infants and toddlers to such a violent spectacle, but that the youngsters are indeed allowed entrance in the first place?

I'm not a prude, but given that we have numerous laws in this country to safeguard youngsters, shouldn't there be a minimum age as well for the likes of boxing? It just doesn't make sense, having them exposed to brutalisation at such tender ages.

Boxing is a legal sport.
When I was growing up I very much enjoyed watching the wrestling on tv with my mother and grandmother, both of whom would be yelling at the tv.
It never made me violent.
Agree or not boxing is a recognised sport. I've watched it since I was small and I'm not a violent person. Kids that age can go to boxing lessons too.
I've never seen virtual infants or toddlers anywhere, I've only ever seen real ones.

Kerosen.....you have made a very relevant point in my opinion.

We have made a big deal in making corporal punishment illegal in children as it is "supposed" to breed violence and yet children under 8 years of age are allowed into Boxing events.

However, I have never seen any evidence that convinces me that either of the above examples breeds violence.
I don't like to see it either.
