First money was diverted from the National lottery for the millenium dome, then for the London Olympics, as we havent got the world cup surely there isnt any more reasons for the government to be dipping into the lottery fund or good causes....or can there be????

barney they will find more than one reason
Er, that is the reason the National Lottery was set up in the first place (to raise money for good causes).

the definition of good causes as far of the government is concerned it seems to be something that will be popular but the government wont pay for it but will skim off the lottery fund instead. i wouldnt call the dome a good cause.its just a fund that the government seem to be able to dip into as and when they seem fit.
Barney,

You think the taxpayer should contribute more to the London Olympics?

TBH i would have rather we hadnt won the olympics at all.
My point was that the government are using lottery money as their own personal piggy bank to plunder when they wish. So there is bound to be another pet project where finances will be topped up by taking it out of lottery money.when it could be used for smaller community projects.
