no i am a father and i am with my other half and my son , its just hes bringin his own upbringing in to it and making other ppl suffer for it . some ppl have there resons( still is bad for them to run away ) but to compair them to drinkdriving its nothing like that its a whole other matter then putting a tax on it so they will 'feel bad about it . and plus DC is a D*** anyway
Seriously? A father abandons his children, something that could have a very negative effect on them for the rest of their life....yes, they should be looked upon with the same scorn as drink drivers.
I also agree with this article. It takes two to tango and both should be equally liable for the kids upbringing. If dipping your wick at the wrong time leads to kids then so be it, you cannot walk away and renege on your responsibilities.
I think he's right - with parenthood comes responsibility, whether people like it or not.
'yes, they should be looked upon with the same scorn as drink drivers.'

What a load of crap

sorry i didnt know you already posted about this
You don't think so Joe?

Or is that just because you're one of them men who abandoned his children?
I dont think he is comparing the actual act of DD with parental desertion.
What he is trying to do,is suggest that the latter carries the same social stigma as DD.
In other words,in time, most people will regard anyone who does this,as a social pariah.
Which was the point I was trying to make. But apparently that's a load of crap...
Why stop there DC? Let's stigmatise everyone who does something against the law.
What a crock of ....
So fathers should stay in a loveless relationship just for the sake of their kids?
Agree ummmm. To dismiss it "out of hand" is a bit negative.
ummmm.......I didn't 'abandon' my kids, I abandoned their mother

Couldn't take kids with me, is that a crime?
Nope...

But there are fathers out there who have abandoned both mother and children. Don't see them, don't wan't to see them, don't pay for them....

Is that not a crime? Is that not morally wrong? Should we not look down our noses at such people?

I think we should....
Yes it's wrong, but not all fathers who live apart from their kids should be tarred with the same brush

Some of us do actually see our children and pay maintenance for them
David Cameron is living in an imaginary past. This latest statement of his is rediculous and sweeping. He has no idea of the real world.

How about the parents who "abandon" them to boarding school all year round and to summer camp in the holidays?
Joe - the fathers who see their children and pay for their children are not the fathers he's talking about.

That's not abandoning a child...
