// Top geneticists together with archaeologists who have spent years on dig sites in the UK, the experts conclude that 50 per cent of us have German blood flowing through our veins.

It stems from the Germanic tribesmen, Hengist and Horsa, who came ashore on the Kent coast in 449.

'People from rural England are more closely related to the northern Germans than to their countrymen from Wales or Scotland,' said professor Haerke. //

"People from rural England..." That's all right, then. I live in a town.
Well I never! Who knew that the Angles and Saxons were german tribes?
At one time they also believed the world was square and we could fall off the edges.
Ja! Ist gut!

Sausage unt Lager please
Errr Europhobes are an insult term used to describe those who think countries should be running their own affairs rather than joining up in some Europe-wide conglomerate and having the same unsuitable rules imposed across all. How is the genetic news item you refer to mean bad news for such wise folk ?
<<At one time they also believed the world was square and we could fall off the edges>>

I honestly don't think anyone ever thought that ...

except Michael Bentine of course.
I suppose its expected really. If the geneticists say we came from Africa then travelling North from there our lineage would have to pass through the rest of Europe. Likewise they would have to pass through England to get to Scotland so I believe the Scots have much English blood in their veins.
......and your point is? At least we ain't French!

According to QI we are all decended from to Ghengis Khan! Prior to that we are all from Africa which was part of Pangia originally.

That is too narrow a definition. A Europhobe dislikes all things European - especially our brothers, the Germans.

The Scots (and the Welsh) are the true Britons.
I like Europe that's why I'm anti EU, the EU is the most destructive anti Europeran organisation there is.
i would imagine that we have a far greater mix than that. If i could find a way to take a genetic test, i would, to determine my path to who i am. And considering that the scientists, archeologists are redefining the world we live in, our part in it, and our so called heritage. I still consider i am English, and so a person born in Germany would say they are German. I read an article a while back of a woman who took one of these tests, she always thought of herself as white, middle class, well to do, if you get the drift, but in fact, her genetic makeup was romany, thrown in with people from the Basque area, and so forth. We are all mongrels, don't mean to offend anyone, but there you are.
Most of us are not Europhobes, we just don't like many of the policies that come out from an unelected source. But lets not go there eh!, i mean a contentious statement like yours deserves some credit.
Not me, my father was a Shetlander so he's probably Danish, and my mother's lot are Irish.................
where did they come from though? you can take this back to the dawn of time, or at least mans appearance.

No such word Gromit, the word is Euro-sceptic, and that is someone that wants us out of the EU, nothing wrong with that, I hear plenty say.

How can anyone hate everything European, we ourselves are European, there are many who like certain goods made in Europe, and as for the Germans they are lovely people.

I think you had better stop reading the Daily Mail or at least stop using their links.
"No such word Gromit"

Oh dear, have you alerted those poor, illiterate Oxford Dictionary people?

Hardly surprising. apart from the people you mention there will be the people who fled Germany during the war. I dare say if they look further they will find a large percentage also have French, Norwegian, Danish and Spanish Blood. Proper mongrels we are. One of the reasons I find this obsession with "British" ironic.
They probably wandered over all those years ago, when Britain was still joined to France.
Might explain my penchant for currywurst mitt grosse pommes when based in Germany with HM Forces.......
