Im a Civil Servant as well (23 years) and like Nicksmum i get no bonuses. I think its high time we dispell these media driven myths that so many people outside of the Civil Service seem to believe in. There are lazy and overpaid people in both the public and private sector.
Unfortunately as i have said in another post i cannot really go on strike on Thursday as it is the day my office shuts after 56 years so there is lots to do.

I don't get a bonus of any kind, no profit sharing, a lower wage than some people get, and in fact, absolutely no perks (apart from the fact that I work close to home, so no commute), and, no pension. But I work in the private sector. I'm pretty sure that there are plenty of people like me who won't be happy that civil servants are striking for something the rest of us don't get. And you have to consider where the money for your wages comes from.
