Who do the BBC think they are standing for the establishment on who will decide whether Scotland should be independent.
It is for the Scottish people alone to decide their nation's future.
We do not need England's approval nor their permission.
Since the "parcel of rogues" sold Scotland out in the treaty of union the Scots have not had the courage nor will to go their own way, but the nervousness of the Westminster establishment about losing Scotland and all it has to offer now is heightening the debate.
Long overdue is a sensible debate among the Scots; it is no one else's business!
I am not sure quite what you mean with respect to the comment about the BBC. I cant say I have noticed any particular partiality by the Beeb in favour of the status quo.
And of course, you are right that it is down to the scottish people whether to a/ have a referendum and b/ vote for independence - but it is and should be very much of interest to all citizens of the United Kingdom, so there views and thoughts are valid and of interest .
It may not have been widely reported south of the border but the BBC commissioned a poll among English voters on several questions relating to the independence of Scotland, including whether there should be a second referendum in England to agree or not with the decision of the Scottish electorate.
The chairman of the company who carried out this poll also stated that there was no such thing as Scottishness!!!!!.
Which clowns do you have running the BBC to employ such fools?
Scotland and all it has to offer........
Nope. Sorry been thinking for a while now. Can't think of anything but a but of nice scenery, whisky and haggis. Oh and Glasgow. Nice city.
alexanderd, I don't know what propaganda you have been listening to but Scotland is the same size as New Zealand, Norway and many others who seem to manage quite well.
It will happen.
It's funny - I saw that report on the news tonight and it said something like only 30% of the English people polled wanted rid of Scotland. I said to mr mac that they must all be on Answerbank :)
I have been to Scotland many many times and loved the scenery but as for us losing Scotland and all it has to offer.....we'll take our chances. Glasgow is an architectural gem. Glasgow is a breathtaking city. Glasgow is a vibrant city. Glasgow is unique. Glasgow is.......
alexandered has obviously been unaware of the massive Scottish oil industry and the world wide export trade.
jambos44 can only be offensive: that does not count as argument but is typical of an arrogant tendency south of the border.
Rich unlike other posters I love Scotland I live not far south of the border but dont believe you will ever gain independence. A question If you did presumably you would have to apply for membership of the EU would you do it?
I think jambos44 was siding with you there rich but thanks for sticking up for me but unlike the Scottish who had to be led by an effeminate Italian dwarf, I can fight my own battles. Ta.
their debt to GDP ratio wouldnt qualify them to do so, AE - assuming that England isnt soft.
I am all for independence on a fully independent basis as it will rapidly help restore England and Wales as to the economy as long as our banks stay clear of the junk bonds that the Scottish banks will need
alexandered, there will be a referendum and the Scottish people will decide.
The people are sovereign in this as in all matters in Scotland.
EU membership will be a matter for them, but I would be in support.
count-a strong, the people as sovereign is a cardinal principle in Scotland not a variety of European "royal" families by whom you are pleased to be reigned over and subject to.
