The Council Tax payers of this Council, should refuse to pay any further Council Tax payments until this Council makes a 'U' turn on this one.

had an old work mate who forgot to pay a couple of months payments, the council got a court order and had the lot taken out in one go, he got no letter no warning first he knew he about it was when he went to a bank machine to get some cash and his account was empty

As I understood it permanent employees can not be sacked without a legitimate reason, and can not be made redundant unless the function they were providing is no longer needed. So I am curious as to how one can sack everyone and insist they have to be rehired at a lower rate of pay. Granted a company can "downsize" if it become unviable but in those circumstances fewer tasks tend to be done, and those who remain employed are put upon to do more. This seems rather weird. Maybe they should all refuse to apply, and picket the place. Ah but there again right wing governments have probably made it illegal for plebs to stick up for their rights like that, as if they had any to begin with.

If a 5.4% pay cut results in a £3,000 loss then I feel great sympathy for this poor public sector worker currently earning a derisory £55,500 p.a. at a time when private sector workers in equivalent positions to their public sector brethren work 10% longer per day to earn 10% less.
