Is life a lottery?

This news story caught my eye on Google when I was looking for something totally different.

I, personally, have no maternal instinct and no desire to have children. But I realise that other women (and men) find their need to procreate is very strong.

IVF can cost lots of money - the NHS isn't able to fund numerous attempts at IVF. Is this the way forward or a badly thought out idea?

I don't know how to react to that. I don't think one can put a price on the sanctity of life and making Pro-creation a competition. I do however know that people have difficulties in conceiving for one reason or another and may not be able to afford IVF treatment but I honestly think this takes the biscuit out of what having a baby is all about x

I agree with both of you. What is a woman in her 80s won it and decided to have another go at being a mother.

I know that for a couple trying to have a baby and who have exhausted their savings this is a great way to be able to have another go at IVF.

It is a strange idea - and I can't see it coming to fruition - hopefully.

It's natural selection some have kid some can't, only human endevour has made IVF possible. There are no shortage of people. IVF should be personally funded, end of.

In this over-crowded world, anyone who cannot conceive naturally should accept the fact - bad luck. It would be more to the point if people were paid for being voluntarily sterilised.
