no claims bonus!!

can someone tell me the point of this please why should i have to pay an extra £39.99 a year for this when if i did have an accident my insurance would rocket up any way, is this another con job!!

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.you can't pay to get no claims bonus - you get it by having no claims. You can pay tp protect it though. The point being that you retain the % discount even if the premium goes up
so if you insurance is usually 500 and you have 50% NCB you pay £250
if you have a crash and the premiom goes up, but you protected the no claims, your insurance might be £700 but you can still get NCB at 50% - so you pay £350. Ok so it's gone up, but it's better than paying £700

did you read my post? i don't really know how i can put it more simply so you do understand, but i'll try.
Although the premium will go up if you've had a claim, you will get a percentage of discount on the new policy if you have protected it.
In the example above, it would mean a difference of paying £350 pa rather than £700 pa
