I can't be on my own in agreeing with the building owner that it looks a damn sight better now?

I personally think it looked awful before and looked like what it was, graffiti, and weird graffiti at that.

I agree BOO, I often wonder how these Graffiti artists manage to do their thing under bridges and obscure places, without ever being spotted?

I feel sorry for the guy, he seems to be under pressure to put back what he didn't like- on his own building!
well done Mr Ahmed I say :-)
B00 you are a philistine! Where's the romance in your soul and 'ow's ya toof??
Question Author
Well not really, if you read it, he's enlisted some arty farty dude to try and put the (bloody ugly) thing back on.
Brilliant.

There's something seriously wrong when graffiti is not only tolerated but encouraged. Full marks to the decorator.
Question Author
romance? I got lots of that, but it was a gorilla, with a pink mask....i mean...what?

Toothypeg getting fixed next thursday, the temporary glue is holding for now, ta for asking Neti xxx
arh yes, sorry
I prefer it than the graffiti... although I think the same fella has done one on a wall I used to walk past daily and I liked it there...
Question Author
Yeah but OG, he's having the damn thing uncovered (for want of a better word!) again. I reckon that's due to pressure and no doubt he's paying for that privilege too, poor sod!
Yeah, it was him... http://news.fitzrovia...y-graffiti-fitzrovia/

^^^ I was well chuffed with myself as I recognised it as him before people started really noticing it. I can be cultured... ;0)
Anyone complaining about the graffiti being covered up, albeit by Banksy, doesn't understand graffiti as an art medium. It's important that it is impermanent - and how can it be rebellion if the person whose property you've defaced LIKES what you've done... It would be mad.
the gorilla looked rubbish imo... lots better painted over

never mind being spotted bobbi...i often wonder how they reach where they are spraying..... i was on a long boring train journey a while ago and some of the grafitti i saw needed wings to get there to do it... and so neat too :s

On a prog on Chanell 4 'Four Rooms' someone brought a piece of wall with BANKSY grafiti on it to be sold there were 4 bidders & it went to the highest bidder, can't remember exact sum but it was Tens of Thousands of £s

A piece of wall with scribble on it!!! - Unbelievable!

I'd cover it up too Triggs!

Apparently they're worth a fortune...to who? Who gets the money?
fair point there ed
exactly safiya
how do they reach under those high bridges and the walls of the Metro tracks with no one seeing them?
and isn't there an issue with depictions of animals as well as humans within islamic art..? if so it would be even lesss likely to be seen as worth preserving... Banksy may be clever but he's still a vandal
The Banksy on the 'Four Rooms' programme was valued at £230,000! If this Gorilla in a pink Mask can be restored and chopped out of the wall, it could be worth a 6 figure sum. Rather than him being under any pressure to restore it, I suspect he is seiing £££ signs now he has been told of its worth.
