Murdoch and that Pie?
Am I the only sceptic here who thinks that the pie thrower was actually set-up by the Murdochs to stage that particular incident to evoke some sympathy for an 80 year old man?

The two policemen were standing a long way off,M/S Murdoch nearly jumped over two men ,and managed to punch the man, and then take the pie away from him and rub it in his face .no one knew who this lady was sitting behind the Murdochs until then.It was her moment of fame and her chance to be inroduced to the Press and the Public ,nice one.I wonder how much they paid Mr Pie....
Unlikely. If you want to court the sympathy vote why not simply have Rupert clutch his chest and go down, or start sobbing etc etc etc.
And what sympathy? Is anyone sympathetic? Having shaving foam stuffed in your face is an odd way to court sympathy. Plus you run the risk of the chap you've employed taking the money (as well as the punch) and then going and re-selling his story...
This making you look 10 times worse than you already look.

I do not think it was a set up. They didn't need to. It was not the Murdoch that people remember, the quick, combative, alert, clever Murdoch. It was the 80 year old version, slow, confused, amnesic Murdoch. There was already a bit of sympathy in the room before the pie. The tough questioning was not followed through. When he said he couldn't remember it was accepted rather than persued. They went quite lightly on him as the afternoon went on.
The nutter who threw the pie is an idiot. Rather than strike a blow against capitalism, he some how managed to make Murdoch the victim which he isn't. Talk about having an objective and then managing to realising the exact opposite. I hope he gets a few month in jail, he might benefit from the education available in the big house.

It had crossed the mind of of a few of us on here GillyGee, (including me)but actually I agree with Gromit. Murdoch is an 80 year old man now and really showing signs of it.
Mind you I don't agree with a gaol sentence for the pie thrower. Some community service would be a cheaper option and more worthwhile.

Is there no lengths the 'Left' will not go to?
This Murdoch hatred has nothing to do with phones being tapped for some, it is just an excuse for activists to try and have another of their digs at capitalism, hence all the protesters outside the building with their 'Socialist Workers' banners.
As for nobody knowing who the lady behind Rupert Murdoch was, until the pie throwing incident, well I don't know were BayBoy1 has been, but I would think most people would have known.
Can the conspiracy theories get any more ridiculous?

Anyway ... what sympathy ?
This is a man who has made £billions by publicly exposing people's private traumas.
He has (metaphorically) thrown custard pies in the face of thousands of people ... sometimes rightly, often wrongly.
If the worst he has to put up with is a bit of shaving foam, well ... he's a lucky man.
