Our politicians constantly state that their government are going to take an increasing number of children out of poverty during their term of office.
Taking a look at these photographs taken 100 years ago, make one realise what poverty was all about.
If our own life styles have improved so much in over 100 years, then why haven't those in other countries such Africa and India also improved likewise?

In Victorian times it was likely if you were poor your life expectancy wasn't long, and though i didn't believe it, not because i didn't want to, but had to look up instances of child labour, sending children as young as 5 down the pit, not to dig coal obviously, but to aid the miners, and that is something we don't do now, nor chimney cleaning, which was another job for very young children. For many if you didn't work, you starved.

scurvey a deficiency of Vitamin C, well if its only a few cases wouldn't say that was a big problem. If your child dies from lack of food, thats a big problem, and that shouldn't be happening in Britain today. I watched a bit of a report on the problems many people are facing, with cutbacks, food prices, and utility bills going up, think it was ITV. A woman was interviewed and her problems were she had four mouths to feed, she had to give up work because one of the children has autism, and she gets x pounds a week in benefits, and said she was struggling to feed them, but nowhere did it say what the father was doing, or if there was one on the scene. There is a lot you can do to help yourself, no one is saying that some aren't struggling, as to the nutrition side, surely if you can heap junk food on a plate, you can buy something better with the same amount of capital.
