Is this just The Sun over-reacting to some idiots putting up posters, or is there really something to think about with this issue?

So yes, it's the Sun stirring up trouble, giving publicity to nutters. The real threat to democracy in the UK comes from newspaper barons like the Sun's owner, Murdoch.

Personally i think if people cannot abide by the laws of the land then dont live there. Similarly if/ when i visit a foreign country or even live there i woulf follow their rules x
