are they suggesting that someone did this to her? can't quite make out the story. I know they said not releasing details at this time, but seems rather strange

It sounds strange - but seems true.

I read that yes, a man in a balaclava entered the house and attached the device and a ransom note to her
how effing mad, if they catch the person, i hope they do the same, then let it go off.
em10, the way I'm reading it someone's attached a bomb to young woman in a wealthy suburb in order to get a ransom from the parents.
Scary stuff!
It's like what Duncan Bannatyne's been on the front pages for this morning, someone asking for £35k or his daughter will be attacked, must be every parents nightmare!
pa-ul3 i know, and did you read what he said on twitter, that he would pay more, when the potential kidnapper was caught, to break both his arms. Though he had to retract that afterwards, perhaps in fear that he was inciting violence. I would feel the same i do know that.
I think everyone would back him up I just guess because he's a public figure he can't be seen to be saying that, I'm pretty sure he's still thinking it though! He said he'd happily 'do the time' if it came to that too! That kind of protectiveness over ones family is an admirable trait.
i agree, and would heaven and earth to protect mine.

It has to be a concern for anybody who had money - some devious b'stard trying to help reduce the size of your bank balance.

Attacking a person's family - or just threatening to do it - is beneath contempt. There are some evil people in the wrld.
seems that this vile man had placed a fake device on the poor girl, i hope they catch him soon. Her dad is wealthy, so this was a bstard trying to extort money, what a truly horrible story.
