I am getting a mite irritated with the repeated news reports that the riots are spreading "across Britain" or "across the UK" when as far as I know they are confined to England.
This is also being repeated on the USA news channels and elsewhere.

They are also confined to a few areas of England. Where I live it would be too much like hard work.
I read that there had been "unrest" and arrests in Glasgow
chaffinch - is that not normal for Glasgow ?
lol wolf, silly me!
probably because most of the world doesnt recognise the need for UK to be broken up into component part.

It'd no doubt irk Catalonians to be described as 'Spanish'?
Chaffinch, do you have a link to the 'unrest' in Glasgow please? All I've heard is that 2 teenagers have been arrested for posting things ' to incite violence' on Facebook
I heard that there was some disturbances in Cardiff. Not sure where I heard it though.

Hi Booldawg,
You may have heard of the Edinburgh Festival ... bad publicity will affect the number of visitors who spend millions, particularly those from overseas.
Not identifying the riots as English, as the BBC backdrop to their news channel now correctly does, could seriously affect numbers.
Well done BBC.
fair point rich,,
IMO..If there are not any incidents in your area, don't say so, even on AB, because some lout could read it and arrange to alter the position.

As regards events in Cardiff, the following has been publicised:-
