EDL 'Vigilantes' attack police in Eltham
// Riot police were hit with missiles including bottles as more than 1,000 officers battled with dozens of middle-aged men on the streets Eltham, south-east London.
Witnesses reported that many of the 200 men were chanting in support of the English Defence League, the controversial Right-wing group.
The group had promised to defy police orders and mobilise their own forces to protect their families and businesses from mobs of looters.
Last night hundreds of police from eight separate forces tried to restore calm from the mainly white men.
Earlier they had claimed they were “protecting” local shops and businesses for a second consecutive night.
UK riots: father of Birmingham man killed in clashes calls for calm 11 Aug 2011
With shops and pubs in the high street shut, the group brought carrier bags containing beer and drank and sat on benches.
Riot police eventually restored order after charging at the crowd. At least one person was arrested.
Around 60 EDL supporters had gathered in the square in the town drinking cans of beer and chanting "We love you England".
“Officers had missiles thrown at them this evening,” a Scotland Yard spokesman said.
“Police have dealt with the disorder and the group has been dispersed. Police remain on the scene.” //
Particularly unhelpful at this time. While I admire the Sikhs and the Turks protecting their property in a dignified and law abiding way, the English Defence League are a utter disgrace. If such yobbishness represents England then we are doomed.
Why are they such pillocks? Is it poor education? Broken homes? Bad parenting? Or they just revel in their own thuggishness?

Lol, have a read of this hypocritical article by the edl, note the "hard done by" way it is presented and if you never knew better you'd think that the edl were a a misunderstood friendly and peaceful group of people who if butter was consumed it wouldn't melt in their mouths.

I know it's been said a hundred times before but the EDL represent Britain as much as those extremist terrorists represent Muslims in Britain. If only they (and others) realised this!
If we want to have any stereotypes represented in these circumstances.. we need to send in the three scousers off Harry Enfield!!

Since you did not provide a link regarding these attacks by the EDL, I have just carried out a Google search and come up with these two links,
http://www.channel4.c...-vigilantes-in-eltham
and
http://www.dailymail....tml?ito=feeds-newsxml
First let me make it clear, I condemn any violence carried out against the police or anyone else for that matter, providing of course there has been no provocation from other groups.
The EDL are no exception, if they really are EDL supporters, and not members of other groups trying to gain political advantages.
It is interesting to note however that the media are soon prepared to mention the colour of these perpetrators of crime, but at the same time there has been little mention of the colour of the original rioters and looters.
/// two groups of men - not teenagers this time. White men, roughly from their twenties into their forties.///
One will also notice that any white person that happens to be spotted by the media cameras taking part in the disturbances are systematically highlighted.
The police themselves are soon to take tough action against white persons but will questionable operate a 'soft touch' action against blacks and Asians.

I see what you mean AOG, even your own paper is printing pictures of white people who were rioting.

From this selection, it would be easy to make the mistake that white people were also involved.
