Bright red little blighters. Zapped 'em. I am always amazed where they come from, how they find my plants in the middle of nowhere,

Have you got the clumps of black eggs off as well? Yuk, disgusting.
I sympathise with you, but why is this in the news section?
What have you used to zap them, we sell this where i work and my manager with 20 years of experience of working in a garden centre always recommends it to customers.

or use this one, ive a guide about all the products in front of me and they both work on leaf beetles.

Dave.
You're not the only one, gromit - how do they find one lily in a massive row of gardens?!

BTW ladybirder, I don't think that's eggs, that's poo - they disguise themselves as a pile of black poo so the birds can't see 'em. (Well, that's what we were told!)
click on the yellow or orange and it will give you info about the product.

Yep I think you're right boxy, I had forgotten, it's POO, even worse. Double YUK. When I moved from London to N. Yorks I was told you don't get Lily Beetles this far north it's too cold for them. Well there weren't any when I arrived but it didn't take them long to catch up. Couple of years later and there they were, little blighters.

They grow their grubs in the pooey secretion. I bouught an insectacide spray that seems to work. I too am in the North, and the Lily Beetles were not suppose to come this far, but I got my first one about 5 years ago.
Yes it's a change to get into the garden.

Although they have now finished flowering and the stems have now been cut down to ground level, what we have always found to be most effective during the flowering period is this excellent all-round product:
