Being as there is nothing much new news today . What do you think of
Earl Grey paying people to try their new flavour of tea . I read it was £10 a week or free tea for a year.
I would need a lot more than that . I remember one ABer describng it as
tasting of mushroom and smelling of old socks ,which I thought was a pretty good description .
I can never understand some hotels especially abroad seem to imagine its a treat to serve Earl Grey or China tea . They are supposed to suit the refined taste . I see there was a court case in the USA of a man who suffered bad side effects from EG but recovered after going back to a English Breakfast tea.

well its the water they mix it with in the States, modeller, I wouldnt want any tea with water ot of the Boston Harbour.

It's a very similar story to Coke - why buqqer around with something that folk like?

Personally, I detest EG, - an English or Scottish Breakfast Tea, courtesy of Taylors of Harrogate (prop the Wild Bros) will suffice, failing that an Orange Pekoe.....
I loath EG tea and lapsang whatsit - don't really care for many herbal teas, but do like rooibos.

Whays rooibos ?
When I was in Norway they had these tea and coffee dispensers but they only had EG .

When I complained they said "Oh we thought all English people drank EG but we will see what we can do ." And they did they came back about 10 minutes later with an English breakfast labelled Yorkshire Tea.
I think EG is disgusting, so they could not pay me to drink it.
I take my tea without milk and sugar and very weak. I like Earl Grey although it can be a bit medicinal. Love china teas. But my favourite is Darjeeling leaf tea with cassia and cardamom. First drank it in Kashmir, came back with a massive bag of the stuff and worried slightly about customs but no problem.
roiboos is redbush tea - smells like kippers
Where can I get the bribe?
the chinese have a great tea for dim sum, a mix of oolong Pu-erh (black tea)and chrysthanenum petals , and this is often referred to as guk pou or guk bou (čŠę™®; pinyin: jú pĒ”).- very refreshing at lunch time
I would happily sign up for £10 a week, who says you have to actually drink it.

I have signed up to a site this week that pays me £10 a week just for telling them what I eat.

I've just remembered an infusion of herbs is called a ' tisane'. Some like peppermint are at least drinkable but EG is foul.

I don't know, it was in the Telegraph, apparently the offer is on the shelves of EG tea. It also said if you still don't like the new flavour after trying it they will give you a years supply of an old flavour. Of course that may be paper talk.

Now that sound interesting , do tell where it is .
I think Twinings must have done a very good PR job on Earl Grey years ago because it`s always had a refined image about it. I don`t like the stuff. The only place I want to smell bergamot oil is in my suntan lotion! The new one`s bergamot and lemon. I reckon it`ll be discontinued within the year.
I like tea to smell and taste like tea - strong Kenyan for me or Assam if there`s no Kenyan left.
Loathe tea in any way.
tea, although an Oriental, is a gentleman at least
coffee is a cad and bounder
coffee is a filthy beast.
Modeller I have been a member of a site that involves you scanning your shopping after purchase for years, they have just introduced this strand to their site. Do not know if they are recruiting new members but Google TNS shopping monitor or NSM Rewards and see.
modeller I have to disagree with bednobs - I don't think rooibos smells like kippers, to me it has a refreshing smell. I did have it served very strong with milk at a friend's house and it was foul! weak without milk is the answer I think - maybe with a little lemon and ginger chopped in it.
I too drink eg without milk and very weak
I started when I read that bergamot is very good for women of a certain age
It's supposed to help with flushes !!!!
prefer lady grey...green tea with lemon, if I have tea black, otherwise it depends what I fancy when I get to the supermarket. like jasmine or rose blends as well
