Well according to John Cleese it isn't, he was quoted as saying:

/// "I had a Californian friend come over two months ago, walk down the King’s Road and say, “Where are all the English people?” ///

/// "I mean, I love having different cultures around. But when the parent culture kind of dissipates, you’re left thinking, “Well, what’s going on?”

Diverse: Areas of London like Whitechapel, pictured below, are extremely multicultural:

This report was dated 31st August 2007, it was reported that in 4 years time white persons would become the minority in the the city of Leicester.

This was pretty accurate forecasting because it is now official, that white people are now in the minority in Leicester.
Name the council area(s) where there are no English shopkeepers.
AOG, you seem to think that this "issue" is peculiar to England - it's not, there are people of other races in every major town and city all over the world.

IMO the "deal with it" comment earlier had nothing to do with the EDL, it just meant - accept it, let it be part of modern life. Some of my best friends were not born in the UK but are nonetheless British citizens now.

..and BTW I wouldn't use John Cleese as a yardstick for anything, he doesn't even live in the UK any more, what right has he to comment?
Now that I think about it, if every city or country shared John Cleese's view, he'd not have been allowed to live in America where he is now..

The problems are unique to England, caused of course by the unlimited immigration problems by all political parties.

Another reason is because our lax benefit system is a 'honey pot' to the worlds economic refugees.

Just name me another country that offers the benefits to all and sundry that this one does?

It was reported recently that Somalis are heading for Holland where they can gain EU citizenship and then heading for the UK as EU citizens.
I don't think you'll find that these problems (whatever the problems are supposed to be) are unique to England - in Germany they complain about the huge inlfux of Turks.
^ or even influx
aog what about naming the council areas where there are no English shopkeepers?
goosestepping only in Kings Road....

We have 2.8 Muslims alone in this country, and Germany has 3.5 million Turks (Muslims)

The UK has an area of 243,610 square miles, and Germany has an area of 357.022 square miles.

So considering all other immigrants I think the UK has the larger problem, also I don't think Germany dishes out benefits to their immigrants as we do.
There is hardly any difference in your figure AOG.

UK has 11 muslims per square mile and Germany has 10.

In percentage terms, the UK is in ninth position of muslim immigrants, after Belgium (6.0%), France, Austria and Switzerland (5.7% each), the Netherlands (5.5%), Germany (5.0%), Sweden (4.9%) and Greece (4.7%).

..and AOG, as has been discussed before, not all those Muslims you mention as living in the UK are immigrants. Many are from the indigenous population, either born here or converts (I know many of both options). Jewish people have lived here for centuries, as British as you (I imagine) or me. Let's not turn this into a religious debate, we are talking race here, not all Turks are followers of Islam.
aog, councils, English shopkeepers, complete absence of, are the examples SO numerous, it's taking a while to compile the evidence?
As to John Cleese, well to some extent he has a point, i rarely hear English being spoken, and as there are supposedly over three hundred different nationalities that live here in London, perhaps that's not surprising.

Boxy,
The vast majority of the present-day Turkish people are Muslim and the most popular school of law is the Hanafite madh'hab of Sunni Islam.

I won't speak for other boroughs, but ours is going the same way as TH, and the majority of the shops, leave aside the large multinationals, are asian run and owned.
In less than 50 years London has changed out of all recognition, and if people think all these changes have been for the better well that's their perogative, but i don't believe they are.
We don't have a large Asian population up here, or at least I don't think we have
Bobbisox, if you lived in London you would be agreeing 100% with em. I left 20 years ago and the changing face of London then was unbelievable, and not for the better, try living with no-go areas, gang fights, muggings etc. I hope Bobbisox like myself you live in a nice quiet area with nice neighbours - what more can we ask for.
I think what we need to appreciate here, is that attitudes are vastly different between the young and the elderly.

Older people remember a different version of England...where overwhelmingly the population was white (affording them the opportunies to put up 'No dogs, no Irish, no black' signs and spend delightful weekend '***-bashing - I know of this, because a group of NF supporters managed to put a school friend from India (yeah - I know...ironic isn't it).

However, younger people have no recollection of Britain in the 50s. They have black, Turkish, Muslim, Hindu friends.

They eat kebabs, jerk chicken, feta cheese, calzone, beef madras and listen to Wiley, Dizzee, Roll Deep, N-Dubz etc.

I'm in my mid-forties, and cannot remember a time before London was a very multicultural city.

The answer unfortunately is to wait until certain people, well...there's no other way to put this: die off. Think about it - in 50 years time, who's going to be around to remember an all-white Britain? People's view of urban normalcy will change, because that's all they would have ever known.

...apart of course, the producers of 'Midsomer Murders'.
Bobbi - just as a matter of interest - I know several Muslim people who live in Newcastle, they're not Asians, they are converts married to people from the Middle East.
I did say I wasn't too sure boxy :-)
maybe in certain parts of our City, just I have never seen them ?
