/// Jonathan Polnay, prosecuting, had described the events as 'a stupid teenage dispute over some money that got way out of hand'.///

Is that how you would describe this vicious attack on a young 16 year old girl?

If the prosecutor considered this vile crime as just a "stupid teenage dispute", is it any wonder they got off with such a lenient sentence?

H said one "that got out of hand" didn't he? So no, I don't think the prosecuter considered it a stupid teen dispute.
what an arse, how do you reconcile what they did with that remark, i would give him a swift kick in the gonads.
that's sickening, and given that only two of them were teenagers that hardly stands up! The sentences should longer, it's also sexual assault and creation and distribution of child pornography.
He didn't say that, at all.

He said that it "started off as a stupid teenage dispute over some money....."

No-one has said that what occurred subsequently wasn't dreadful.

Can't quite see where you are coming from, did he not say "stupid teenage dispute"?

The reason for it in this instance is irrelevant.

both Triggs and Jack has said what I meant to, but far better. Teens do bicker, though I don't think the majority of the attackers can be classed as teens, but they luckily don't usually end as this one did!
He actually said it was a situation that got way out hand. It started over a £50 debt which was trivial. So the statement is 100% accurate.

Its a joke on their sentence, two people a few weeks ago were given the same sentence, 4 years for posting on the internet to join in a riot, theses scum were animals. Pity they couldn't be deported!
LOL, I think the mist of righteous indignation must have blocked the second part of the sentence which puts the first part in context.
it *was* a stupid teenage dispute at the start, and spiralled into this horrific attack. his point is that this shocking crime came out of something stupid.

no prosecutor would play this situation down. he/she is there to secure convictions.
I agree. The prosecution were setting the scene, explaining the circumstances, to the jury.
