This all happened last May, and the police have only just released the images in a fresh bid to catch those responsible.

A little late don't you think?

S far as I'm aware those particular institutions are unlikely to hire out their premises to anyone wishing to serve alcohol, in the first place...

who's we? don't you mean I?
The images were released in the local press months ago.

The Centre is owned (or leased) by the Sikh community and the people that let it out for that function were the Sikh elders.
The elders denied that any meat was being served at the function but they were planning to serve alcohol.

A few of the pubs in the area are owned or managed by Sikhs without problems.
"If a Salvation Army hall, or a Methodist's Hall was hired out privately, and there was alcohol being served up. .....I wonder if they would smash their way in and attack the police also?"

actually in their early days because of their propensity to recruit druggies and alcoholics from poublic houses, they caused a loss of earnings to many of them. a revolt among english publicans during the time (late 1800s) included throwing rocks and rats, disrupting meetings and generally duffing up the members.

i imagine these days the hall might have a protest line of old dears and zimmer frames.
"he's as silent as the grave "

a bit like yoursel jake-the-peg when New Judge slaps you down for most of your ridiculous replies and accusations that you seem to make on a regular basis
/// Every time there's a crime with non-whites in this country he's on here ranting about what happens when you "let them in" ///

/// When there are horrific serial murders perpetrated by whites he's as silent as the grave ///

"I am getting rather fed-up with your false accusations"

They seem pretty accurate observations to me.

Is there any need to go back over 100 years to make a point? Pretty irreverent I think.

/// i imagine these days the hall might have a protest line of old dears and zimmer frames.///

Once again always ready to dish out insulting and ageist remarks, yet let one make any suggestion of race or criticise the young and you can't wait to cry out 'Racist' and bestow on one the virtues of today's young.

The sad fact is that we all become old one day, it happens to everyone including you, will you then also become an 'old dear' hobbing along with the aid of your 'Zimmer Frame'?
well given that a few people here have said they thought the Sikh community were law abiding who's to know!??! Maybe there'd be a couple of idiot's who'd be overly offended and take it too far so that every Christian / Methodist (I'm not up on the break downs!) in the UK was then tarred as a mindless thug and an example as to why people should not think differently from anyone else ever!!
Perhaps I've misread this but I thought AOG was using the relevant link to suggest the police were being slow in following up the incident. His" a little late don't you think ?" refers to them.

Yes I also find it very strange for Sikhs to act in this way.

Regarding the objection to alcohol, I have had drinks with many and I find that they can drink with the best of us.

Also the objection to food, if one is a visitor to one of their gurdwaras then one is offered food as a welcome.
I wonder if, as the actions of these sikhs seem at variance with our usual picture of them, there is some rather large chunk of important information the DM has failed to pass on?
so that goes to show that the reactions of these chaps is not something one would expect from Sikh gentlemen, thus has no reflection on the presence of Sikh's in multi-cultural Britain.

And yeah, it is very late, it's clearly bad policing, what we really need is someone in charge who knows when to publish photos and make them head of the Met. Quick, get on the phone to America!
