While there are many who would wish to see some discipline brought back into our schools, but obviously not this type of child ill treatment, then how is it that it apparently is allowed in UK Islamic schools?

Is it not time for a complete investigation into this matter and these institutions closed down and the perpetrators sent for trial, or is this sensitive issue best ignored with the hope that it goes away, as generally is the case ?

<Corporal punishment is actually still legal in part-time education in England, where lessons are taught for fewer than 12.5 hours per week.>

Wow, didn't know that. So that would mean they can also use corporal punishment in Sunday school....legally.

As it's legal....It would be difficult to prosecute, wouldn't it?
corporal punishment is non effective ,suggest you catch up with Educating Essex for a more enlightened view on discipline in 2010's

It won't work Helen...

The toe rags were still toe rags after getting the cane...

The threat of corporal punishment only works for good kids.
These institutions will not be closed down, expect a lot more of the same.

The Government's promotion of Free Schools will see an increase in Muslim faith schools, but they are not to be scrutinised by any local authorities.

You amaze me, condoning children as young as six being slapped around the head and kicked?????????????

Perhaps we should introduce the 'birch' as well as hanging, and then perhaps the 'big' torags that rule our streets will behave themselves?

You conveniently ignored the type of teaching some of these children get, so do you not find anything wrong with this also?

/// independent Darul Uloom Islamic High School in Birmingham teaching children as young as 11 that Hindus have ‘no intellect’ and ‘drink cow p***’. ///

If you cant be bothered to read the link, dont post. I am sure, like most of us , you can untangle the truth from the article.

What is wrong AOG is the fact we dont have the balls to stand up to these Muslims. I say 'these' because I really dont belive they represent the mojority of muslims in this country. It will get worse and we will see Sharia law yet.

It will probably all only stop when they stone a woman for adultery - or similar.
these muslim schools are a disgrace not because of their methods but because of their aims.

they are about showing their kids how to be muslims not how to be brits, they dont want their spawn to be like us and assimilate, they dont want our culture they want our land and resources.

stand by for the usual blinkered hand-wringers and apologists who refuse to accept whats going on right under their noses

If you had read the link instead of issuing out your regular insults, i think you would have found that it is reported by the BBC's File on 4: which is on TV tonight., or don't you bother watching BBC if they are addressing an issue that you don't agree with?

/// Dr Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, founder of the Muslim Institute, told the BBC's File on 4: 'We are basically destroying the lives of young people.///

I think that the description below fits you to the tee.

/// A bigot is a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices, especially one exhibiting intolerance, and animosity toward those of differing beliefs.///
I read this and thought:
Well, that shouldn't be happening, but the story loses much of its impact for me because it's in the Daily Mail, which has a consistently xenophobic and I am sorry to say anti-Islamic agenda. No doubt this sort of abuse in Christian schools would get the same exposure from Britain's best loved rant mag :-)
Bit of a tricky one for the "Hang 'em. flog 'em, Britain is white" coalition though :-)

The 'Right' are accused of many things by the 'Left', but unlike them we do not agree with the beating and kicking of children.

Although strangely they prefer to side up with, and protect the more adult criminal it seems.

It seems that the government would like to see a separate society existing within our own society and class it as multiculuralism. Allow them to practice their own ideals and customs and to set up their own free schools.

Its when the inner bubble bursts allowing the extremists to harm our way of life they sit up and take notice.

You cannot run a society like this! They should be made to integrate and follow the laws and practices of the host nation.
They are not exempt from following our laws.
In case no one has noticed, this country is neither wonderful nor white, and hasn't ever been. As to the footage, it should be a case that the children have as much protection against beatings, and any physical abuse from their so called masters and betters, as children in state schools. Corporal punishment doesn't work, never has. It was state licenced thuggery.
I did watch the programme when it was shown some time back, and it was very disturbing, not just from the childrens perspective, but the adults preaching hatred not just for the kafir, but other religions.
I watched it also.

I wonder what the parents reaction to the footage was.

I can't imagine what my reaction would be....
It's not really a legal matter then it would seem, at this time, but it is still definitely wrong. Certainly if it is currently legal this should be changed.
The issue seems to be the fear of repercussions within the Muslim community.
I think it's probably only an issue that modern thinking Muslims within these communities can tackle.
