Cheese, according to this, is popular with sticky fingered shoppers. I think I'd go for tinned wild salmon if I had to.

There's no reason to go for the "economy" option if you're not paying for it.
Roadkill from roads but do not think that this is stealing. Does anyone here eat animals they find on roads?
Can't say I have JonnyBoy, but I don't think i'd be adverse to pheasant or similar if it was freshly killed and someone prepared it for me- not wanting much am I? LOL

During the siege of Derry rats were on sale at 6p each. That was a small fortune in the 1680s.

I'd be more likely to poach than steal from a shop if it really came to that.

(although that may cause a few problems as some of my family are game keepers around this way)

It certainly wouldn't be the first time that's happened, a lot of out of work game keepers have turned to poaching.
My local small supermarket has a lot of fresh meat stolen.

I'd never steal cheese from a supermarket.

I'd steal it from La Fromagerie in Marylebone.

It's much better cheese.

Plus, you can then pop round the corner, and steal a pastry from Patisserie Valerie.
