I once watched a documentary about the police that deal with paedophile cases and some of the men they arrested were interviewed for the programme, one of them really didn't see anything wrong in his crimes, he thought the rest of the world was mad for not feeling the same!

Well, he hasn't much excuse really for that number of pictures over such a long time. The analogy with stamp collecting is rather puzzling. A stamp collector actually collects the stamps - not pictures of them!

The term paedophile does not mean an adult who's sexually attracted to children! It simply means someone who LIKES children - as opposed to a paedophobe who is someone who dislikes children.

The term paedophile has been used in recent years as a substitute for what we used to call 'child molester' - in the same way as the formerly-attractive tern 'gay' has now been substituted for 'homosexual'. Perhaps that is what Boo was referring to.

Well, as I said, it's been substituted now in the same way as the same on-line dictionary would list 'gay' as homosexual. It was innocuous and meant something completely different until recently.

Paedophilia is a Greek term meaning 'liking children'. Paediatrician is a child doctor, paedophobia is a fear of children etc. Arachnophilia is a liking of spiders and arachnophobia is a fear of them.
