We could see our clocks permanently wound forward by an hour for good from next year.

But only if Scotland agrees to it.

Why should we consider Scotland, isn't it about time England had a say in things?

If Scotland wants to retain the annual 'on a hour' 'back an hour', fiasco let them, there is no reason why both countries can't be on a different time system, is there?

Bluddy Furriners stealing our English Summertime.....mutter, grumble.....

I agree, it is this almost annual non-problem blown out of all proportion.
perhaps we could do have different time zones, please everyone, well maybe not.

??
the typing has gone to pot. Perhaps England could be on a different time zone to Scotland, if the Scots prefer. That way we could have longer daylight hours. And i wouldn't go into hibernation quite so early in the winter.
Don't they want to keep it because they are further North?
But three quarters or more of the population live in England, don't they?
true, true em.
and wales could stay 20 years behind? Mwahahaha!! x
glad i didn't say that.
Well I live right in the South and I want to keep the switch as it is so I support Scotland's argument. Most of Europe change their clocks too, we can't all be involved in a fiasco surely.
aren't we 1 hour behind France.
i didn't type 'mwahaha' BTW ...
We are behind Europe by 1 hr, 2 hr or whatever yes but they change round about the same time as us so the difference remains.
At the moment it is still dark in Edinburgh at 8am - also Britain has GMT - and I thought we all wanted out of the European Union! I remember when they tried it in the 70s and it was an absolute fiasco and most of England wanted to go back to ther status quo, never mind Scotland.
I remember that too, celti - I lived in Scotland then - it was vile being in the dark.
even when the clocks go back tomorrow, it still doesn't get light till quite late, and at 4pm it's dark, how i hate that.
...and N.Ireland can stay 500 years behind!

Wales can do as they are told.

Then we can all be seen to 'SING' from the same hymn sheet. :0)
Britain should stay on summer time, working the same hours as Berlin will help encourage European unity.
