I hadn't realised the real significance of ... 11/11/11

It's the date in history that looks most like corduroy.

There will not be another Corduroy Day for another 100 years.

There has been an official countdown to Corduroy Day ...

Tomorrow we must all wear corduroy.

I don't think I own any. Do I look like a county set girl? I live at the seaside, for heaven's sake. Maybe I need to buy some corduroy today.

DO NOT miss out on this momentous day. The whole nation will be walking around tomorrow making a "whiff whiff" sound.

Did you join in with day 3 and have a meal that looked like corduroy?
Question Author
Well, no, because I didn't know about Corduroy Day until I read about it last night, in yesterday's Guardian.

We have a shop in East Street (conveniently almost opposite Platinum Lace) which sells guns, Barbours, tweed, moleskin, corduroy, etc ... you know the sort of place. I may have to go there in search of corduroy trousers.

I suspect a lot of husbands tells their wives they're just off to look at a new fishing rod darling, and then pop over the road for a bit of lap dancing.
I hear corduroy pillows are making headlines at the moment.
Question Author
I must try to remember that one, chuck.

i remember my cords from the 70s very fondly, mostly because it would be nice to get somewhere near that waist size again

Hmm ... outfit for tomorrow ... ?

New cords (note to self: buy cords) ... snaffle loafers ... shirt with collar worn upright ... blue sweater ... Alice band ... must borrow Mums's pearls.

Okay, sorted.

I'll look like I'm visiting from Gloucestershire.

JJ - thanks ever so - I've not worn corduroy for 30 years at least, and remember the whiff whiff. The orangey brown and goose t*rd greens fill me with nostalgia.

I have to get some, but can't recall seeing corduroy trousers in M&S.

Mrs V gets reams of catalogues - perhaps she'll buy me some for Christmas?
Question Author
Yes, they do come in odd colours, V.

But Christmas will be too late.

We must act NOW !!
I'm in, I've got a Corduroy shirt in the cupboard I could wear.
Older ladies note Edinburgh Woolen mill shops have lots of corduroy

Purple, rose pink and all the normal poo shades...with nice matching embroidered fleeces and sensible jumpers
Count me in. I have an old corduroy flat cap, thin blue + black stripes, that I'll wear tomorrow.
I'm just going to have to draw lines on my legs with gravy browning ...
anything i had in corduroy always looked like you had slept in it after wearing for 5 minutes, if that. I have jeans in corduroy, but that's because i'm essentially stupid.
Vote now for you preference, traditional or jumbo cords, the lines are open. :)
M&S do corduroy jeans in their ladies classic section, and i'm sure they have them in the mens section as well
better off with thin cords, the others makes me look like the farmers wife, without the animals.
I shall wear a poppy
superavon, as we all will i'm sure.
choc brown cords beige polo neck sweater, sensible shoes I will look like a social worker

My mother once sent me to school in a pair of electric blue corduroy trousers. I was mortified.
