No wonder our hospitals are struggling

She was only in the one hospital, surely, and has now been removed, so it seems a bit harsh to blame her for any perceived problems generally

There are some women out there who are never fit to be good mothers. The same could be said about bad fathers. How you distinguish those capable is difficult. Fortnightly checks at a health centre where all babies could be monitored would be a step in the right direction but with the cutbacks it is difficult.

Hospitals are under enormous pressure. Having personally experienced a hospital visit last year they are like workers on a production line and the nurses are under a lot of stress.

I don't quite understand this post. Do you, each time that someone is convicted of an offence, check out where they work, and then conclude that all businesses of that type must be struggling?

No wonder our hospitals are strugging? What a silly thing to say. This was one woman - not the whole of the NHS nursing staff. The report says the mother was obsessed with the baby's weight, but I doubt she'd be quite so obsessed with your weight if she was nursing you, VHG.

The point I am making is that one expects a nurse to have some intelligence, an understanding of how the human body works, and some compassion when people are unwell or unable to eat.

To force feed a baby, and force a funnel of a jug into their mouth so they cant spit the food out, shows an unbelieveable lack of judgement.

I am not saying ALL workers in the NHS a like this, but if she is an example of the some of people employed by the NHS nowadays then no wonder there are so many complaints.

VHG, there's no guarantee that people in any walk of life aren't going to have 'hang-ups' (sorry 'bout that - not appropriate, I know, but I can't think of another term right now).

yet another example of one bad apple in the barrel.....you can't condemn the whole cider production because of that apple. Ditto the NHS nurses and even 30 "bad apples" would probably be statistically a very, very small percentage.

all big organisations have people who are extreme in their views/ behaviours. Its the nature of society and statistics. "One swallow doesn't make a summer" comes to mind

Probably shouldn't venture into this post, but here goes - just because she was a nurse doesn't mean she can't be bonkers. Huge sweeping statement and, in my opinion, downright stupid.

VHG. I'm sorry to say but worse than that happens, most recently the care home, the old people in care homes are being uncared for and not many people care. it's a sad society we live in so it is. I just hope it never happens to me or mine, it's just not right.
