Unfortunately the continuous random shootings and stabbings in this country is get us a bad reputation all over the world.

My daughter has just come back from Australia where she has been for a year.

One of the girls she worked with was interested in coming to the UK but asked my daughter "if I come to London will I get stabbed".

It is a shame this once great coutry is being dragged down by the way our society has developed in the last 20 or 30 years.
Probably more indicative of the questioners intelligence than a slur on our country.

you are not safe anywhere these days i know that area well i use to visit the kfc next to the casino, i would not say that it is a bad area

in the last few years they have built lots of flats and apartments down there
This is a very shocking murder of a young man. He was not a scallywag, but was from a good family and was working hard at University studying microelectronics. The killer pointed a gun at his head and shot him in an apparently motiveless attack.

I hope the police very speedily catch the kill(ers) and the people punished for this gruesome crime.

I am sure other answerbankers who regularly post condemning youth murderers will be along to condemn this one.
Certainly do condemn it gromit, and I hope whoever did this vile deed is caught swiftly - I cannot imagine how his parents are feeling at this moment, as I said on another thread if it were one of my precious family I would want the killer hung drawn and quartered.

A sad indictment of the state of the country and the rampant disregard for peoples lives. Life is cheap it seems.

as far as I can see from this

http://en.wikipedia.o...ntional_homicide_rate

the UK's murder rate has been slightly below Australia's for the last couple of years.
Wasnt Australia just a big prison?
It's awful, I used to be round that way quite a bit as lived on Chapel St then round the Quays.

I have to say it's not somewhere I'd be walking around at that time of night though I imagine probably not something non-locals would know, especially with the McDonalds there and Regent Road and new flats about - bit deceptive considering some of the areas close by. I read they were walking back from town to the Etap hotel at the Quays.

A fair few other incidents round there quite recently too though usually seem to be connected to some kind of personal/grudge/gang thing than a stranger (not that it makes it any better) - with the Brasshandles gang execution then the Wellington shooting and others, some possibly retalliation. The recent riots round Salford precinct give a fair idea of some of the people who live round there.

Saying that, when I lived in Salford which I did for most of the time I'd been here I probably saw a lot more nastier stuff going on than now living by Moss Side considering the stereotype.
I just hope whoever callously shot this guy in cold blood goes down for a long time, and there are no "mitigating circumstances" which will get him community service, or some such rubbish.

Jenna there have been a few different reports

>> Boxing Day as he used his mobile phone GPS to find the city centre.
He was with a group of eight friends who watched in horror as Anuj was
confronted by the gunman outside the Grosvenor Casino and McDonald’s
near Regent Road, asked the time and then gunned down. <<

>> Anuj was killed as the group walked from the Etap Hotel at Salford
Quays to Manchester city centre. <<
Hopefully as he was with others there are witnesses as to who did it and I'd hope that there won't be the seemingly usually community block of silence with some of the other recent incidents. All too often it appears the police know (or have a pretty good idea) who did it, it's just proving it and getting people to speak up.

Another young man died after being stabbed in the back in Sinclairs in Rochdale on Christmas Day.
Question Author
this person should be ok for witnesses as his friends live outside the area

saw that one in the paper the other night
Lets hope so and they can be locked up (and kept locked up!) asap.

You'd think there would be a fair bit of CCTV around there though being where it is, even if not on the exact bit there should be some closeby depending on where they came from (sounds like the Ordsall Estate), with McDonalds, KFC and the Grovesnor right by and Regent Rd being a main road in and out of the city.
