Hi All
I dont know where to post this so i chose Media and TV.
I am sick of getting letters from Virgin Media asking us to sign up. We probably get bombarded about 2-3 times a week, small letters, large letters, you name it we get it. Does anyone know who to contact at virgin media so i can stop them. I have NO interest in Virgin what-so-ever. Some letters are "to the occupier" so i put them back in the post box because if the royal mail want to put them in my letter box for me to throw away they can have them right back. See how they feel.
Sorry to rant but im rather angry.

Firstly get an address,where you can apply for more info.
Secondly,take all further letters,from this company and place them in an A4 envelope.
Then, when you feel you have saved enough,send it off to the address shown.
But under NO circumstances attach stamps.
Perhaps a covering letter could be included,to instruct them,upon receipt of enclosed,to put the contents where "the sun do,t shine"

I am already with Virgin Media and I still get offers from them which are just "To the occupier". They just go in with my recycling. I can't be bothered to ask them to stop. Just more junk!

Junk mail's sadly a fact of life, and I'm sure it's not only Virgin who are plaguing you. However you try to stop it, it probably won't help. I think you just have to accept it - and toss it straight into the recycling box. Don't let it get to you!

..or just write, Return to Sender, Gone Away, and mail them all back to them.

Would the Royal Mail deliver these junk mails to Virgin if you send them back without a stamp?
I think not, and you will carry on getting them.
Sorry I can't really help except to say, see if there is an address on the back of the envelope and write to them putting a stamp on your envelope.

I've had my cable ever since 1991 when it was supplied by Cable London, which became BlueYonder, which became TeleWest, which became ntl:TeleWest, which were rebranded as Virgin Media - and they STILL send me joining offers!

It's simply a matter of economics for them, though. It's cheaper to outsource their blanket mailing operation to a third-party company with the instruction "every address in XXX" rather than for them to do their own targeted mailing.

I have Virgin, and while speaking about a change in my package, I said I was fed up with getting offers addressed to new subscribers.

The guy said he'd take me off the list, and I don't get them anymore.

Don't know if a non- subscriber can opt out, though.

Is it that different to other junk mail? I get their ads too but they just go in the waste paper box. I get too annoyed about too many things already to start getting irate about VM bumf as well. New year resolution to try to be calmer, not going particularly well at the moment.

If it just says 'the occupier' withiout your address, then it has been put through your door by the postman. The post office make a lot of money by delivering leaflets, You can speak to the PO and they will take you off their distribution list.

If its 'To the occupier' with it your addrress on it, then it's probably a mail shot. You need to register with these people:

they ared the Mail Preference Service. If you register with them, it stops direct mailers sending stuff to your address.

Missprim, iv tried that but i still get them. It does say "to the occupier". I will continue to do what iv been doing. Our postman delivers takeaway menu's too, i save them in a carrier bag and then post them back in the mail box. Royal mail should PAY us, the public, some of the money they receive from these companies.

If they paid you for accepting delivery of junk mail then they'd have to charge you more for postage on anything you sent to cover the expense. They have already seen private companies 'cherry pick' the most profitable areas that they used to serve exclusively, and which allowed them to cross subsidise.

Same here with menu's and leaflets etc, postman delivers them! Like rosiew I collect anything they deliver like that and put them straight back in the postbox when I'm out again. I didn't ask for junk mail so I'm just returning it to the deliverer...fair I think.

Our postman also delivers take away leaflets, along with one with sales offers for the Co Op and a few other local businesses.

All my take away leaflets are delivered by people of various races, none of whom speak English and cannot read the sign over my letterbox.

we get them all the time too and for my late Mother in Law as well, I wrote on one of the envelopes DECEASED and sent it back, but we still get them. I think one of these days, I'll say I want to take up their offer and say the address is in heaven, I wonder how quickly they would be able to arrange the installation :)
