David Cameron is examining the idea of tax breaks for people who hire cleaning or other household services, as a way of generating extra jobs and freeing more women so they can join the workforce.

I was going to comment but it speaks for it self

sorry meant DC not you dave....
whadya expect from a rich upper-class twit?
That is only going to help the already well off. Us ordinary mortals can't afford to pay for stuff like that.
there's kind of him ...
But it could give us ordinary mortals jobs, couldn't it? (Inserts whatever the opposite of a smilie is - a grumpie??)
Here's a link - and I don't think it applies only to women.

I assume the tax breaks are designed so that more people can afford to pay for help around the home - and there are many who would like to earn of bit of extra money but can't fit jobs in with school holidays, etc., so it could work both ways. It seems successful in other countries, so there's no harm in considering it.

The growth in part time jobs inthis country in the last ten years has been enourmous, what is required is a proper fiscal plan to put people into full time jobs. Not for the rich to get richer whislt the desperate cut their hedges.
It doesn't work like that Dave. Do you know how much it costs to put a child into full time nursery?
I'm quite happy working part time. And there is nothing to be ashamed of for being a hedge cutter. Many gardeners, for example, are looking for more work and if people are encouraged through tax breaks to ask for their services, what is wrong with that?

Factor sorry I wasn't being rude to anyone working part time.

Ummmm unfortunatley I do
Dave, //what is required is a proper fiscal plan to put people into full time jobs.//

If there were enough full time jobs to go around, a lot of people couldn't take them because they have children to care for - and most jobs don't accommodate school holidays. Nevertheless, they would like to earn a bit of extra money. With jobs like this, they could probably juggle their hours -and have no worries about childminding costs. I see nothing wrong with that. In fact I think creating employment is a very good idea.

It's not only the rich who have people to help in the home. What about the elderly who can't manage? I know several who would willingly pay a little for someone to come and clean their windows or keep their gardens tidy.
Tax breaks for the comfortably off so that they can give menial jobs to the poor.
I wonder why it is that every scheme that's supposed to help the poor seems to involve giving money to the rich?
Does that mean I can claim for OH who does most of the odd jobs and gardening (plus some cleaning)?
i pay £32 per day for nursery down here!
i bet it's more expensive elsewhere!
and my husband is a gardener! lol!
As there are a few places going maybe children should be left at the House of Commons creche. The taxpayer is paying £34000 for each cild. Nice if you can get it!

It could end up with benefit claimants, currently being paid cash in hand for doing odd jobs, ending up losing some benefits or even paying income tax. Now that would never do, would it?
so the well orf get a tax break to pay someone who will not have a tax break?

DC should have entered this into the competition that Tim Vine just won with his oneliner!!
the men in white coats is coming to take him away lol
