We hear of footballers being suspended for a number of matches, others arrested and charged by the police, and their captaincy taken off them, all for allegedly using abusive words.

So what should happen to thugs such as these, should they be banned from ever boxing again?

I recommend you read Martin Samuel's column in the same newspaper. We've long been told boxing is an outlet for kid's aggression, keeps fighting and violence off the streets, etc. Then these two muppets do this...

David Haye, as far as I know hasn't been involved in anything like this before, so the 'incident' should be investigated, and then a rational decision made.

Mick, why not suspend them for a very lengthy period or in certian circumstances ban them for life? Likewise with footballers actually as well. What is actually happening in the case of Chisora is that he's getting the message from the boxing board that he can take his agression outside the ring, as after his assault on his girlfriend he was allowed to continue to box. We don't need people like this representing either boxing or the UK abroad. The Klistko brothers manage to conduct themselves in a perfectly normal manner so why not Chisora and Haye? Personally I'd like to see the pair of idiots banned for life, they are unsuitable, and frankly not that good either that anyone will ever lament their demise in the history of the sport.

Most interesting thing to happen in boxing since Tyson's bite? Well, yes, if you don't count Frank Warren being shot. And the subsequent trial of Terry Marsh (who was acquitted)added interest to that.

Cant domuch about Haye can the Boxing Authorities? His license was rescinded on retirement..... the other one's should be revoked "toute suite".

Went to some boxing at the dorchester hotel on a few occasions ( corporate freebies, hate the sport not remotely interested, but had to go) they were all in DJ's, and the few times i've seen it on tv they all seem to be dressed up

The difference between the footballers and these boxers, is the fact that they punched out at each other with bare fists, one spat in the others face, and an official was glassed, all in front of the worlds media.

The footballers episode was some alleged racist offensive words, issue between two players on the field of play, but not actually heard by anyone but the recipients.

Yes as other have said, the boxers certainly deserve banning for life.

It's hardly surprising that this incident took place, rather the sujrprise is that it is less frequent than it is!

Boxing, by definition is done by people who are nopt especially bright. how else would you enter a 'sport' that has as its objective sufficient brain samage to your appononent that you can render him unconcious, or failing that, inflict enough physical injuries that he is uable to contine to defend himself.

Of course they should be banned, but large amounts of money are involved, which, similar to football, means that what is right and proper will take a long second place to what is expedient in terms of revenue.
