Jews 'used' to work hard?

I would suggest that they always have and still do.

Also, is it fair to say, "Asians, Africans and the rest of the immigrants like to live on benefits"? That's a huge sweeping statement, and it's also...not...true.

A UK National Statistic (ONF) report released on January 20th under the title “Regional characteristics of foreign-born people living in the United Kingdom” states that in most regions “…a smaller percentage of foreign-born people claim state benefits/tax credits than UK-born”.

That's from:

http://www.thenewlond...than-british-citizens

When this is not the case, as in West Midlands and London, the difference “is negligible,” states the ONF. Interestingly, in the places where the percentage of foreign-born people claiming state benefit is the lowest, such as in Scotland (26%) or in the North East, the difference with the UK-born people is even more marked.
My wife descended from the Hugenots. At least she is white, speaks perfect English, belongs to the CofE and has assimmilated. How can that be said of the immigrants who have arrived in the past 3 decades.
excellent link, sp1814, it should be posted in yellow highlighter at the top of the News section permanently
"unless they have immigrated to somewhere nice like AUS! "

Interesting that you hate immigrants but would like your grandchildren to become immigrants.
Yes sp & jno - can we have in letters of fire somewhere in AB :

"This research found that immigrants pay more tax that they take in benefits ...consuming less state-provided services and paying more taxes"

At the end of the day, your wife has the advantage of being white. She can blend into the crowd. A black African, or Asian from Bangladesh can try to assimilate as much as he can, but there will always be the physical marker that will set him apart.

There are many, especially older immigrants, who carry on with their traditions (language, food, religion, dress), but fortunately, their children go to English schools and will associate with English children, watch English telly, listen to the same music etc etc, which will make it far easier for them to assimilate.

I suppose ideally we would see everyone's kids marrying into other races to achieve total assimilation, but there are too many diehards - black, white and Asian, to allow that to happen.
The proportion of the total population who are Christian fell from 71% in 1996 to around 64% in 2006... Islam increased during the period from 1.1% to 1.7%!!! Oh no!!! What are you going to do!?!?
Surely the way to solve this is by getting more 'true brits' to have kids! Let's send fliers around council estates and schools to get them at it as young as possible eh!
The Express must be getting bored with Princess Di stories!
Reading through these obviously left-wing posts, anyone would think that the huge influx of immigrants, asylum seekers, illegal asylum seekers, economic refugees, (call them what you may) have not caused a problem in this country.

Well one advantage that I have over most of these 'rose tinted specs' persons, is the fact that I have lived much longer than most of them, and I am not just looking at the changes that may have taken place during their short lives.

In one way, I can understand them, they have known little difference in their short lives, they have grown up with it, yet such as I can see the great difference vast immigration has made to this country over many more years.

And before you all come down on me and point out, that "we need immigration", to that I do not disagree, but what we only need are those who possess certain skills and qualifications that are beneficial to our country.

We do not need masses of people who are a strain on our infrastructure, i.e Housing, jobs, schools, Benefits, and the NHS, surely independent from certain political leanings any reasonable person must see that this makes sense?
AOG: You are one person among tens of millions, coming from one social background and at best vouching for a very small selection of places. Your personal experience is certainly valuable, but it does not transcend all other evidence. That would be like me in a few decades time claiming to authoritatively know what the country was like in the 2000s based purely on my own experience - it'd be a ridiculous thing for me to say.

"Reading through these obviously left-wing posts, anyone would think that the huge influx of immigrants, asylum seekers, illegal asylum seekers, economic refugees, (call them what you may) have not caused a problem in this country"

I think it's more that people are questioning the specific problems being outlined by trt and others. The fact that the proportion of immigrants hasn't actually changed much in the past 100 years certainly does put to bed the myth of a 'flood'/'swamping' which is usually described by the right. Nobody would deny an issue is at present though - but they might identify it as one of perception rather than one of fact. Or (more convincingly), they might point out that the increased competition for the diminishing low-skill jobs will undoubtedly be exacerbated by immigration (as it has also been by the far greater numbers of women seeking work over the past few decades). Or they might point to geographic concentration - either way, I don't think your accusation is a fair one.
"Asians, Africans and the rest of the immigrants like to live on benefits"?

do you really believe this?

just one example my mum has been in the uk since the late 70's and has always worked and paid taxes. she has now retired and has a private pension, owns her own house, does not claim benefits, has private medical insurance and generally looks after herself and her hubby. She also spends a good deal of her time fostering ex guide dogs till they can be rehomed and helps to look after folks in her village who are imobile (she was a nurse)

but hey she's asian so all of the above is lie and she really just claims benefits and watched JK all day.

btw i have worked since i left school and pay my taxes

in our family to be out of work and claim benefits is a real disgrace but maybe that's just the asian in me
I'm quite thankful you won't be here too, hopefully a lot of this sort of attitude will have simply 'died out' by then :c)

//// The fact that the proportion of immigrants hasn't actually changed much in the past 100 years certainly does put to bed the myth of a 'flood'/'swamping' ///

Try telling that to say the last elderly original resident in a particular street, which has now been flooded/swamped by immigrants, people who don't speak to her, people she doesn't understand. It is like dropping her into the depths of Africa or onto the streets of Mumbai, for a start the first thing she would ask is, what happened to Bombay?

Forget about that old lady try telling that to the few indigenous persons who still reside in Tower Hamlets or any other such London boroughs.

Try telling that to the late 50s early 60s residents of Bradford, Birmingham, Manchester, Leicester, etc, ask them if the proportion of immigrants hasn't actually changed.
Who are these indigenous people AOG? And who is this fictional old woman in Tower Hamlets? Or in Bradford (a place I know quite well). You are just coming out with tired old cliches. No facts. Or anything concerete
Meaning no undue disrespect, that's not a terribly well thought-out answer. The proportion of immigrants in the country can stay broadly consistent, while concentrations and internal movements change. This will give the illusion in individual areas of 'swamping' in the country as a whole - but it's just that, an illusion. If, say, your street is full of immigrants, all that tells you is that your street is full of immigrants. Which may very well be real, but it is a very different situation to the country as a whole being 'swamped'. This much is obvious to anyone who cares to apply even the most basic level of critical thought.
(the above answer is addressed to AOG, not mightywease).
To support Kromo's post, there are very few immigrants where I live. My husband is one though, even though he has been here for many years!!!

'Somewhere nice like AUS'? Are you sure Australia is 'nice' trt. Have you lotsof experience?
// Try telling that to the late 50s early 60s residents of Bradford, Birmingham, Manchester, Leicester, etc //

I expect a great many of those were offspring of immigrants. A racist lady I know, both her parents were not born in this country.
