Does anyone think that it is a waste of taxpayers money to issue announcements on how to combat heat in the summer. The advice is very basic indeed and very patronising. Why issue it is may when it is possibly needed in July. remember the billions (yes it was in billions) spent on the document that was send to every household a few months ago on what to do in case the weapons of mass destruction were used against us (ha ha). Has anyone got that or has it swelled our land fill sites?

Dunno why don't you ask the families of the 11,000 who died in the heatwave in France in 2003?

Don't worry if the met office are saying heat wave, break out the arctic gear!

Try this for decent advice.

i think its a dreadfull waste of money ..they could issue guidelines on the news on tv and radio..and maybe put a poster up in the post offices and doctors..yes my other emergency guide went to a land fill site ..probably with everyone elses..they are giving these premature weather warnings then in september they will say the heatwave we were promised never materialised..the money wasted on some things is past a joke..but what can we do we just have to pay for it..i voted and it certainly wasnt for blair i tried my best to get rid of him..but it didnt happen..
as an after thought no matter how hot it gets some elderly people will still be walking around in their coats and wooly hats..perhaps they should just issue a note with the pensions telling them to strip off..

As I absolutely loathe hot weather (it makes me feel very ill), all these scare stories about heat waves make me very worried, which is silly because rationally I know that long-range weather forecasting is a bit of a joke.  I can't even find out whether it is going to rain in Oxfordshire on Saturday when I want to cut the grass!

I will just keep hoping that the weather gets no warmer than it is now, because this is the way I like it!  I am thinking of going to the Faroes for my summer holidays as it rarely gets above 15 degrees.

Well, jake-the-peg the number in France reached an official 15,000-odd in France 2 years ago but you can't ask all the families of these people as not all the families came forward. The situation was appalling but I suppose that that is solidarity for you.

Result today is our day in France that the French govt has decided is Solidarity Day for the aged and the handicapped and what a palaver it is turning out to be. Mind you, those that are in the workplace are saying that with such miserable weather it is the best place to be.
