Poor parenting, lack of opportunity and of course the Police!
http://news.sky.com/h...tics/article/16197159
I can go with poor parenting but lack of opportunity? C0bblers there are more chances than ever before. The police? How can this be blamed on the police?
Never seen such a load of handwringing liberal balderdash in my life!

We reached our seemingly incorrect conclusion simply on the basis that your views and his are effectively identical. We assumed he had returned in another guise, as many another has done in the past.
I'll take your denial of that, apologise for my error and will not again misname you.

"Were the Tories in power at the time or not and did the two most senior ones who SHOULD have been rapidly involved - not to mention Cameron! - fail to abandon their foreign holidays timeously or not?"
Be fair QM, - the reason the politicians didn't show up sooner was because there's a shortage of them due to Tory cutbacks, and it took time to draft in holidaying ones from overseas.
It's a shame because I'm sure the mere thought that Cameron and Boris were somewhere in the country monitoring the situation at close hand would have sent the looters scurrying back to their homes sharpish.

"do you want riot police on stand by in every city when they go to round up a drug dealer?"
No - only *after* they've shot someone dead on suspicion. Even after the killing there was plenty of time to prepare for the worst. But they didn't.
Quizmonster, you needn't apologise too quickly - d9 has, after all, only denied being Old Geezer, not R1Geezer. His impersonation of the latter is quite uncannily accurate at times.

Be fair, Ludwig, do you remember the world-wide calumny heaped on George W Bush's head when he did not INSTANTLY fly to New Orleans at the time of the flood there? So, here in Britain, not even one of the three top Tories - PM, Home Sec or Mayor - bothered to pitch up for days after the rioting news initially broke.
Would that there WERE a shortage of Tory MPs, given the chaos they create...
"Don't start queuing for fuel." (David Cameron) "Keep jerry-cans of petrol in your garage" (Francis Maude).
These are only the most recent illustrations.
But what the hey!

Actually, D9, far from your style of writing being "nothing like" his, as you claim, that was a key feature in my concluding that you were one and the same! A tendency to adopt a hectoring or dismissive tone is one you both share.
"Not sure what planet you guys are on...", as you use it above, is an admittedly mild example of the latter...ie the suggestion is that OUR views must be those of weirdo aliens!

acute as ever, QM! Note the answer here at 14:32

I think d9 may have been mentored by the great man himself.

Go on then QM, you've convinced me. The Tories are evil people who created the riots, the drout (they're in power at the time - it's no coincidence), and who like punching kittens in the face.
Phew! - Life's much simpler now I have bogeymen to blame for everything.
I'll give you this though - the Francis Maude jerrycan thing was a bl00dy stupid thing to say.

Ludwig, I have never suggested Tories are evil, but rather - by and large - pretty dim. In other words, "bloody stupid", as you yourself said of Francis Maude. How about Oliver Letwin chucking correspondence in litter-bins in St James's Park or Liam Fox's idea that taking your pal to international defence meetings was an OK thing to do?
The question really is, "Do we want the dim to run the country?" Obviously, the electorate didn't think so in 2010, given that after 13 years of Labour and several of those with the least popular PM in memory, the Tories STILL didn't 'win'. They are in power now only because of the parasitic partner clinging to them.
J, I looked at your link. Spooky!
