Anybody hear the sonic boom just after six o clock tonight. I heard it here in north Wiltshire, it made me go to the window to see if I could see the cause, but obviously there was nothing that I could see.
I've heard sonic booms before, and the intensity of it in Wiltshire, to me, didn't seem that loud, certainly not ear-splitting.
Apparently it was one of two Typhoon aircraft from Lincolnshire going supersonic, as they responded to an emergency call from a helicopter in the Bath area.
Yes heard it here in Warwickshire, and felt a pressure wave hit the house. My first thought was that there had been a massive explosion at the local cement works.
My son's girlfriend was walking to a work's meeting and loads of people came running out of their houses to see what on earth was going on.
I heard one where i live a few weeks ago and it was so loud the windows shook, car alarms were going off, sirens everywhere. The military were doing a training exercise getting ready to protect the skies during the olympics.
Me and my son were speculating on some sort of cover up by the MOD (not sure what for, haha) as we didn't hear any aircraft after the "boom". Now conceding that ok, looks like they are telling the truth :)
It was a very big bang though!
I was in my local park with doggie (Cheshire) a few weeks ago and I heard what sounded like a loud whooshing noise and then a huge sonic boom! Didn't half make me jump, but couldn't see a darn thing. What could it have been ?
