Why are these child sex trafficking cases becoming more prevalent?
These latest ones have taken place over 8 years among those academic spires of Oxford, comes close on the heels of numerous other ones in the North and in the Midlands.
Could they all be connected?

Are you sure this is a new phenomenon?
Child prostitution in Victorian England was far far worse and widely accepted...
// Prostitution in London was no flash in the pan thing. Henry Spencer Ashbee, author of ' My secret life' - documented over a thousand encounters he had with prostitutes of the time. Steven Marcus, in his book The Other Victorians (New York, 1964) pretty much disproves that Ashbee wrote My Secret Life but that does not invalidate its contents in anyway - whoever wrote them reflected the times they lived in and provide a useful insight into our past sexual history.)
The reason for the book being labeled as pornographic, lies not so much in the graphic language it uses, but in its explicit detailing of the sexual acts, that he performed with children. The age of consent at the time of writing, which was around the 1860-80's, was an astonishingly low 13, however Walter on occasions liked them a lot younger. Girls as young as twelve were working in the West End brothels, indeed in some brothels all the prostitutes were children. //
I expect this did not go away and then return, but has always been there.

Out come the history books as usual just to make these abominable crimes seem a product of our own culture, instead of not coming to terms with the fact that others are now committing crimes that we now found totally unacceptable in 21st century Britain. .
I don't care what happened in the Victorian age, that is no excuse for a crime that has re-surfaced only recently.
Would make a change for you to equally condemn these monsters instead of exercising your usual diversionary methods so as to somehow make excuses for them.

/// There's not more of it, AOG, we just hear more about it these days, ///
Can never remember such cases in the past, and we had police, newspapers, radios, and TV even then.
So how come we are now hearing more of them now, if it is not because they are increasingly taking place more regular now?

yes you did have the equipment etc, AOG, but an awful lot when unreported. My family was strict Methodist and there was an issue of paedophilia in our village...an Irish guy living with 13 children in his council house and he went for his eldest daughter. He did the time but then came the release and, working with the authorities, my old man took him on into his business and on the condition that she came and worked for the family to get her out of the house. Methodism embraced old-fashioned liberalism and aiding society.....Was it reported, hardly at all, whereas today the offence would have been across the rags.
Boxie is also right as different parts of the world have different attitudes to sex and prostitution - Thailand being an obvious one where tradition used to be to take one's 13 or 14 year old son down the local brothel to lose his virginity...and look at their values as to young sex, homosexualityand transvestism/transgenderism - more "accommodating" and it is that certain western folk have exploited.
And, much as you like, you can't and should not ignore history.

I have not made excuses for anyone. I am just pointing out this has not just resurfaced asyou insist.
The reason you are using the story, and also the Daily Mail, is because the criminals allegedly running it or foreign. That panders to your belief that all foreigners are disgusting. Of course any english men pimping young girls do not get a mention from you.

With Asian forming a substantial % of immigrants since about 1972, when Idi Amin threw out the Ugandan Asians and subsequent waves of Asians from the Indian sub continent, the question I'd ask is similar to the question's author - why now? Why has this not been headline news for 40 years?
I doubt this could be 'an Asian thing' because there are concerns over East European sex traffickers - and they ain't in any way...Asian.
So - that leaves a REALLY horrible question...are British men seen as a good market place for teenage girls?
Do foreign sex traffickers read the regular stories about British paedophile rings and think "Now THERE'S an untapped market!!"
Also - are these stories becoming more prevalent, or are we confusing them with 'grooming Asian sex gangs'

If the newspaper reports were regarding an increase in the amount of such crimes by British Whites, Blacks, Chinese or Eastern Europeans, I would equally post on those crimes, and also ask the same question "Why are these child sex trafficking cases becoming more prevalent"?
But unfortunately it seems for some, this particular report concerns an Asian (mainly of Pakistani decent) sex trafficking ring.
So little use can be gained from making excuses, or pointing out this type of thing was also prevalent during the Victorian period.
Yes I know that this can be uncomfortable reading, because it doesn't fit in with some AB readers particular agenda, but they are not alone even the police and others have been rather slow to admit that there is a problem.
/// Mohammed Shafiq, director of the Lancashire-based Ramadhan Foundation,
a charity working for peaceful harmony between different ethnic communities, has gone further. ///
/// He says: ‘I think the police are over cautious about this issue because they fear being branded racist. That they fear being branded racist. That is wrong. These are criminals that should be treated as criminals whatever their race.’ ///
/// Many other figures involved in this field have fought shy. Martin Narey, the chief executive of Barnardo’s, initially described the evidence as merely “anecdotal”. A Channel 4 documentary on the subject in 2004 was pulled at the request of police. Few experts were willing to talk openly yesterday. ///
