I`m not brilliant with texts and text speak.
I have an elderly relative in a care home who will be ninety next month and we have been discussing how to celebrate her birthday. Last night I received a text from her Grandson which read......Just to let you know we have all agreed to dnr for Granny.
I replied.......That`s lovely. She`ll enjoy that. Let me know where and when.
This morning I am informed that dnr does not mean dinner...it means...do not resuscitate. Oh bums!!!!!
oooopps......this reminds me of the tale of the mother texting to her son...."just letting you know your gran died this morning LOL"........she thought lol was "lots of love"........
Many moons ago when I worra lass and worked in the telephone exchange, DNR stood for 'disputed no reply'. If peeps couldn't get a reply from somebody and thought the line could be faulty, they contacted the operator to test it.
(Just thought I'd throw in that bit of useless info).
I do hope the old girl makes it to 100. <thumbs up>
