Has anyone read the Mirror this morning regards the Care Workers within the NHS & the conditions / hours / no-breaks? "Yes" NO BREAKS eat & drink your food when you work! been there & seen the video, sort of staff employing cheap labour " Agency" & PLEASE, I am not knocking some of the agency, some are good but there are a hell of a lot that are FKG useless, I worked with 2, they where on a night shift, when I came on the following morning the service user had fascias on his hands & face, what where these two doing? watching TV, Its not the carers as such, it's the agency making more & paying cr@p wages.

I would rather `top` myself. My MIL is in a home and the carers there are all very friendly but you just never know do you, what happens when you are not there. My mother too has just gone into a home and Im now worrying about her too.
If they are not caring people, they should not be doing the job no matter what the money.
I was cooking in a carehome for about a year and when they were short staffed I would help out. It really opened my eyes even then. I would get far too involved and upset if I did it as a job. I know there are some real caring people on here and its a good thing there are some about. Its hard work but thats no reason to treat elderly worse than being a POW

T.O.H. I would put your mind your ease otherwise it could effect you, the care homes at not all alike, it seems there is always one bad egg, & they are the ones that get the publicity when caught out the same as this one in North London. The places I have worked at have been very good by the regular NHS Staff, the regulars know the service users / Clients, its the Minority of the agency that are the ones that do not give a sht as long as they eat the service users /clients food etc, your MIL will soon give you the indications that there is something wrong, the signs will be very clear with her behaviour, take care & do not worry unnecessary.
