Does 12 year old need an iphone?

So a 12 year old was robbed of his iphone in a park in Scotland.

While not saying he deserved to be robbed, does a 12 year old really NEED an iphone worth around £400 (and possibly a £30 or £40 a month contract).

And also should a 12 year old be walking alone through a park with an item worth £400 on him?

As I said, nobody deserves to be robbed, no matter who you are, what time of the day it is, or where you are walking, but surely this is putting temptation in front of some of the low life that are walking the streets nowadays.

Be interesting to know if the parents were paying for this, and thought it was a "good idea" for making their 12 year old a likely mugging target.

The suggestion that this 14 year old deserved to be mugged for having an iPhone is ridiculous. A bicycle can cost several hundred pounds. trainers and jackets also a few hundred quid. An old iPhone can be got for less than £100.

By the same token, anyone with an expensive car, do they deserved to have it stolen more than someone with a little runaround?

Dundee has a 95% British born population. There are not many Africans or Caribbeans. There are some Asians but they make up only a few % of the overall population.

i reckon the Police and news outlets did not say the muggers were black because they were white. If you have any further information please post a link.
