Have been very anxious about today but it has gone very well. Got funding for thing 2 to have 10 hours of support when he starts school in September and both the things stayed at nursery for an hour, on their own (big deal for both of them but particularly for thing 2) and they have agreed to go tomorrow for the full three hours and to stay without me. Also got our term time holiday OK'd for two of the others (just waiting for a decision on boy #1). Makes a change for things to be going our way.

(Sorry to anyone having a pants day.)

good on you, sherrard, a little glass of soemthing to celebrate some small wins perhaps!
Oh I'm glad you decided to go through with the nursery! They must be enjoying it for them to want to go back :-) Has D said much about his time there? x
What a relief, hope you get the permission for boy#1, then you can enjoy a nice break.

Thanks DT - only took 1 year 10 months to sort the funding, but at least we've got it now.

Hi Erin, took them on Monday but we all stayed for an hour. Today I stayed for half an hour and then told them I was going to the shop. Went back after half an hour and was told they were fine and went back and got them after another half hour. I know all the staff as they are from the village and they have been brilliant. A big part of it was me not wanting to leave them. They snuck me in so I could see D playing with the others and he was really enjoying himself.

Hi RR - it's actually already booked so will just have to pay the fine if they say no.
Still works out cheaper even with the fine, go and enjoy.
Pleased for you, sherrardk.
Glad you managed to let the Things go to Nursery...it is hard to let go, but one way or another or at one time or another, you always have to.
Good luck with the permission for the big boy...but as you say, you're going anyway, so have a great holiday.
I think it's always the parents who find it harder to deal with, I see it in the nursery all the time. The first time the child doesn't cry when they're left in the morning, I can actually see the parents tearing up instead!! It's great to see them having fun though, isn't it :-)
Hi Sher, glad things are going your way at last. Good on you for sticking at the nursery, they will love it in the end. Good luck for the holiday arrangements. Any hints on where you are going?

Thanks Ladyalex - I over-worry about thing 2 (knew thing 1 would love it). The nursery staff are lovely and they 'got' thing 2 immediately. One lady took him outside to chat and play so that he could settle before the rest of the kids went outside. (When the kids leave in the Summer, all the staff are in tears and have to wear sunglasses so the kids don't know.)

Hi Carandog - 2 weeks in Ibiza (all inclusive - so all day long ice creams) at a kid-friendly place. In term time it's costing £1000 less than it did for a week in the school holidays last year.
thing?

thing 2?
They sound great, sherrardk.
I'm sure you knew all would be well for the Things , really...it's not about that. If you thought for one minute that they would not enjoy it or not be well cared for , you wouldn't even have considered it.
It's about getting over the fact that your last babies are growing up.
It's sad, but there will be so many things to enjoy in the future.
Sounds brilliant, you can't not do it, can you, go for it gal!

Hi Joeluke - we have five children - boy #1, boy #2, girl and thing 1 and thing 2 (the things are twins). Obviously we don't call them that in real life but it makes things easier on here as I don't care to use their real names.
Question Author
Exactly that Ladyalex - went home and gave myself a slap. Just need something to do for three whole hours tomorrow.
Twin 1 and twin 2?

Far less derisory
Thing 1 and Thing 2 are characters from The Cat in the Hat - just google it ...
Question Author
Hi Joeluke - hate the term 'twin', I am a twin my self and we just don't use the twin word. It's only something that I use on here as they all have actual names.
Have a wallow for a day or so, sherrardk...this is a big thing and it won't happen again.
You're allowed to be upset for a wee while.
Then find something really nice to do.
(And enjoy Ibiza.)
:-))
