At the risk of being accused yet again of posting a racial thread, I thought that this killing should be addressed, independent of the fact that the alleged killer happened to be black, I would have also picked it out if he had happened to have been white.
What is this country coming to if a person can not be concerned about a baby's welfare, without the parent going home to pick up a knife, only then return to seek out this person so as to stab him to death?
Even if the murdered man had gone up to the baby's parents and in an aggressive way told them to keep their baby quiet, (which seems more likely) he didn't deserve to be killed.

This is not representative of the way people act. This man went home to find a knife and kill Mr Smith...it's a shocking and newsworthy story because it's such an extreme reaction.

I was in a well know supermarket car park and as left my car to go into the store I saw a kid maybe 2/3 years old if that, suddenly run out from between two other cars and into the path of an oncoming car.
I managed to stop the child and next thing is some big fat African women sucking her teeth at me and shouting at me in some african language, she decided she was going to poke me, that was enough , I shoved her away, meanwhile the kid is just wandering around (not my problem now).
Luckily i had a few witnesses who saw everything and came up to me.
I've learnt my lesson, phuckem wouldnt do it again not worth the risk.

He admits the act but his mental state is for judgment. There are mentally ill people on our streets sometimes, and sometimes that proves tragic.
What is this country coming to if....Well, it's been the anniversary of the death of Spencer Perceval this week. I bet your predecessors were saying exactly the same then, aog : "..if the Prime Minister can't go about his business without being shot dead !" Bellingham, the assailant, was found to be sane; he told a witness that he'd have preferred to have shot our Ambassador to Russia. I wonder what this man's reasoning is.

Blimey Fred that was an isolated incident committed in 1812, I would expect we have moved on a little in 200 years.
But it seems we have not, instead this type of savagery (and I make no apologies for using this word) is becoming even more prevalent in today's society. where life seems so cheap, so much so that it is becoming more and more dangerous even to look at someone.

/// This case is an extreme one but won't make me think twice in the future. ///
Yes but the more we hear of such cases, surely it makes one think twice.
Take mild road rage for instance, at one time it was an accepted action taken against another driver who had cut another up etc.
But now one has to think twice, in case they stop you and come at you with a baseball bat or knife.
What is the world coming to, aggression is rampant?

It won't make me personally think twice, because it is something I have done all my life, yes have occasionally had an earful, but in the main has been ok. If we live our lives in fear we may as well pack in altogether.
I am not saying that if there was a sense of 'anger or violence' obvious in the situation I would not tread with caution - of course I would.
I cannot comment on raod rage from a personal viewpoint so will leave that one.

Blimey, indeed, aog. But I'm not inclined to the view that one swallow makes a Summer, nor that one, apparently disturbed, individual is proof that the country is coming to [ insert answer]. This country has been going that way since at least 1812. May be getting better. we haven't lost a Prime Minister, nor a monarch, to a murderer since. Now, isn't that cheering news ?
a terrible crime, i think the man was insane, or perhaps on drugs, because no normal person would react like that, go out and then come back with a weapon. That said i hope he goes away for good, won't happen i'm sure, if they find he is mentally ill then will be locked up for a time. as to the family aiding and abetting, have they no shame.
