Why are all new people treated with suspicion? We were all new at one point.
Were you welcome when you first joined or have you a different story to tell?

It seems that it depends on the kind of post they arrive with. There are a lot of welcoming people on here and quite a few who can spot a troll coming.
I was welcomed. I asked my question, got my answer, said thanks and went.
i don;t think its all new people
I think maybe it's not the questions you ask but some of the repliesyou give that can be taken the wrong way when perhaps they are perhaps only meant tongue in cheek....doesn't take much to start a little flame war...even when no offence is intended a reply can very easily misunderstood...

Simply because a person is not of the same opinion as you...they are all entitled to put their personal view forward without .....JMHO .

I also think that a persons opinion is just as valid as one who has done 1000 postings...or it should be..JMHO..Heh heh!
I think it's just new people with long, involved and rather implausible posts.

Also newbies who ask what the best company is to do x, instantly followed by another newbie providing an answer.

Can't remember, really.

I think everyone was quite jolly.

All my threads for the first few weeks I was here have vanished. The earliest post that's still there is from late May, but I started AB'ing in mid April. This gives the (wrong) impression that my first thread was titled "Mens' Arses".
followed by "Top Off" and "I Fancy a Hot One".

I suspect Olive's hand behind this one.
Folk were helpful and sensible...mostly...the rest were fun... but some new posters are just too mad to be real... but so long as it stays friendly and no owls are harmed,,,,,
I've been an intermittent user of AB for a long time now, but because I'm not a regular I still feel I'm sometimes treated with suspicion - I posed a serious question yesterday in the interests of research and had a very mixed reaction to it. I have no problem with people being jokey, but some around here don't tend to like new or irregular users. That doesn't by any means apply to all, I hasten to add.
I only used to post in Q&P when I first joined and then very tentatively ventured into other sections (I am very shy as you know)

Some "new" people are very blatantly not, and it stands out a mile
I joined, posted my question and then didn't do much else here for quite a while. Chatterbank didn't exist when I joined so most chatty posts were in Body and Soul, it was pretty much dominated by Knobby and Legend back then.

It's the language of the tribe that lives under a bridge.

I hope now owls have been harmed in the making of this post
