My neighbour has an 06 Mercedes and a K reg Peugeot that he uses for work. He's just gone and got the K reg completely re-sprayed. How much would a K reg be worth now? A lot less than a re-spray....

I know these people quite well as it's my ex FIL and he wouldn't know anyone who'd do it as a 'favour'

What a waste of money...

Would you bother?

K would be early nineties, so I wouldn't have bothered.
I wouldn't bother either, but some people have more money than sense

Lol...they do have more money than sense.
It really depends on the relationship the guy has with his car, I have spent thousands of pounds repairing old worn out Land Rovers in the past and lost money when selling them but I loved my Land Rovers.
If the car runs well and hes keeping it. Do you know if he got someone to do it or did he actually pay for it?
Depends on how much he loves his car, my car is 1995, and I have had it resprayed.
Heard of getting the porch painted .Maybe he said come round and paint the garage and the guy misheard him ?

lol

It's a 205!!!!

Before the Merc they had a Mazda. That car he really did love...
Maybe something happened in his car for which he has fond memories.
Perhaps he has had a monster engine shoehorned in.
And the car upgraded too.

Some folk I know spend hours and hours tending their vegetable gardens and tomatoes and suchlike, which costed at say £15 an hour soon adds up over the year; when they can just go down the shop and buy them fairly cheaply. Madness.

He rarely parks it outside the house. I don't think his wife likes it...he tends to park round the corner. Bless the poor hen pecked man...
My MGF had a new engine, which cost over £3,000

That's a lot more than it's worth now.

We all make these dodgy decisions from time to time.
My mate once spent a fortune getting his van welded, way more than it was worth, when I asked him why he didn't spend the money on a newer one he said he could have done but this way he knew the van was all up together and so would last a few more years, whereas he wouldn't know what might need doing on a new one. I could see his point.

Camper vans...MG's...

This is a Peugeot 205!! lol
you can do what you like with your own money, what's it got do do with you?

It has nothing to do with me. I couldn't give two hoots what they spend their money on.

It just made me wonder. Is that okay with you deggers? Or should I run my curiosity past you before I post??

No, didn't think so!!
"should I run my curiosity past you before I post?"

We could have a sort of "screening" process for new threads.

You submit your post, it goes to a committee (!) of mods and, if it's approved, it gets posted.
Some people like them and spend money on them.

Personally I wouldn't spend 50 pence on one.
My daughter and son in law both drive old cars, daughters is an L reg Astra gsi, they have spent thousands on it, restoring it all back to original, putting a red top engine in and now they are getting it resprayed. I asked sil why they didn't just get a new car and he said that he wouldn't have a new car if it was given and that the old ones are the best (his is a K reg nova).
