How to date modern wedgwood?

I would like to find out when a wedgwood coffee set was made. I have seen online that a letter seems to indicate age but I think that is for older pieces. I'm pretty sure that this one is quite modern.
As well as the normal markings it also has a little gold x which looks hand painted.

First you need to identify the pattern ( if it is patterned) and then the shape. From this you can look up the time span it ran from and to. To identify the pattern name it's probably best to just search all the wedgwood pieces somewhere like ebay or better still:-

Once you have found the pattern and shape you will be in a much better position to date it. If you get stuck and post a picture I'll try to help.

It doesn't have a pattern NOX. It is plain white with a very fine gold trim. I put 'wedgwood coffee set' into that site but the 1 result wasn't my one.

It also says 'metallised' on the base. It is def modern because it mas a BS number on it.

Ah you're not searching the site correctly if you only get one hit- you need to identify the pattern ( all ceramics have a pattern name or number even if they appear plain) so ''Wedgwood coffee set'' isn't going to find that for you. It's most likely to be either Crown Gold, Gold Chelsea, Signet Gold or Formal Gold- as these are the most common Wedgwood whites with a thin gold rim. There are literally hundreds of white and gold Wedgwood patterns but I'll almost bet it's one of these. Try googling the names above and if it's one of those tell me which and then we can work on shapes.

Okay-great, I thought it would likely be one of those. Now can you identify the shape- coffee sets come in various shapes- it's done in a similar way to finding out the pattern. Then you combine the two and bob's your uncle you have a date range. If you're trying to date it to value it though I'm afraid to say that modern Wedgwood, Doulton and Worcester etc have a very poor resale price generally.

Not interested in a value Nox. I bought the set (6 cups and saucers all in excellent condition as well as a coffee pot with a slightly chipped lip) at a car boot sale last weekend for £10 which I reckon was a good deal!

Should I use the chinasearch website to try to identify the shape?

I found formal gold coffee items on the chinasearch site but unfortunately it doesn't have any pictures.
It is similar to the picture here . . . http://chinasearch.co...wedgwood/formal-gold/
but my cups have a more rounded than oval handle, straight sides ie no flaring at the rim, and maybe slightly less gold on the handle.

Any ideas?
