That they are allowed to operate these schemes as legal shows the whole system needs changing. One person this morning suggests there should be a tax rate of 30% applied to everyone and all tax reliefs should cease. The poor would escape as the starting rate that the tax cuts in would be much higher.

It sounded as though half the Cabinet are doing it. It isn't illegal, but hopefully it will be stopped. I don't like the dodgy way some people survive and hardworking people have to stump up every time. Jimmy Carr is a rotton comedian anyway hope he has to pay it all back.

The high moral standards, social responsibility and altruism (albeit with other people's hard earned money) expressed by some ABers has deeply affected me.

First thing tomorrow I'm going to call my Accountant and tell him to stop what he has been doing and to make sure I and my companies are paying as much tax as possible - plus a bit extra.

Just to make sure Dozy Dave and Ozzie have plenty of cash to spend on all their cost-efficient, well thought through, properly managed schemes that are going to benefit the British people so much.

I'd like to second sibton's remark. It's rare we see such altruism on AB, or anywhere else.

Well the politicos are too accustomed to the idea that they have any rights (moral or otherwise) to fund their schemes, departments and careers with budgets made up of money WE have generated.

Who decided that isn't 'morally wrong'?

It just adds insult to injury when the people who set the rules criticise people for using them.

If there are 'loopholes' it's the government who should be embarassed not Carr or Barlow.

Apart from genuine humanitarians, more than normal - anyone who is making it is on the take right now - from the successful comedian to the new businessman. I'm getting it in the neck from my current employer, being exploited and they'll continue to exploit me until I lose my temper and f*ck off. Then they'll hire some other mug until *they* f*ck off ..and so on. These are symptoms of the current economic climate, it's a financial dog-eat-dog setup.
I can't stand Jimmy Carr - he's not funny and his eyebrows sit far too low on his eyes.
