Something to be proud of
Despite the austerity measures and recession we are still the country most likely to grant asylum to people in genuine danger.
// Some 14,360 immigrants were given asylum within the UK in 2011. The figure was the third successive rise in successful claims in the UK and an increase of 41 per cent since 2008. //

// UKIP leader Nigel Farage said: ‘Asylum seekers come to the UK because we have long history of looking after people extremely well in this country.
‘We also speak English, the second language most people are likely to learn whichever part of the world they originate from.
‘But the number of people granted asylum remain a very small percentage of the total number of immigrants coming to Britain.’ //
Why is it that some people are not proud of this fact?

New Judge a fascist? That's just a standard term of leftish abuse. Surely you have a better word to express your opinion.
I'm more interested in when New Judge will not be a 'New' Judge any more. Others may be interested, NJ, in what kind of judicial post it is you hold, just in case they come up before you. Of course, if it is Lord Justice of Appeal, that's not a problem!

because the country cannot support more people who have little or no chance of finding work, a home, schools, all needed at some point.
Why is it right that those who have worked hard, paid their dues have to support those who have not, or cannot, British born included.
If coming here, you should have the following, a place to live, a job, and enough money to support you if things don't go according to plan. If i wanted to throw myself on the mercy of another country say for example Australia, i couldn't do it without some form of backup, and indeed a skill that the country needs.
It's not just the asylum seekers, how do we know they are absolutely genuine, you don't of course, because there is no way to find out. You could tell the immigration authorities you have escaped from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan because of it's intolerance, and that you would face difficulties, perhaps prison if you stay, but how on earth is anyone here going to know that is the case. Economics brings people here, they reckon the streets are paved with gold, and it's England they head to mostly, and London most of all, which is already packed to the gunnels. No more, not until the country gets back on it's feet, which may be never the way things are going.
Politicians live in ivory towers, once their day is done, they will retreat to their Cotswold, Cornwall, Norfolk, or Tuscan hideaways and leave the rest of the populace to fight amongst themselves.
