There are plenty of measures already in place in the shape of he FSA and SFO. If there is spare money then invest in a branch of the SFO to deal with the finance industry.
Have Milliband and Balls gone quiet yet? It would appear there is a good chance labour were up to their eyebals in it especially as the Barclays submissions to libor clearly drop after the BoE conversation.
And lets face it, is phone hacking really that serious ?

But is seems much mor the vogue to be tried by politican these days. They are Judge Jury and executioner.
Part of the problem is the FSA. Over the years I have had dealings with them (and the FED) and I have to say that many of their staff leave a lot to be desired. I certainly would not employ many that's for sure. We need to get that house in order and equip plod to deal with it. We also have the Vickers report which should be looked at and acted on. Another Enquiry would be useless and would take far too long and still would not have the teeth to get in and arest wrongdoers.
These accusations also appear to have happend between 2005 and 2008 and judging from the comments is not happening now, so stable doors ??

AOG, just why is phone hacking so bad it is worthy of millions to a bunch of Lawyers? Is it really worse than say a spate of burglaries? It might upset a few celebs and much hype was made about Millie Dowler by the Gurdian whoten had to apologize to the Sun, but step back and get it into perspective. Wrong, totally wrong, but worthy of all that expenditure; for nothing?
In labours case we should, of course, always translate enquiry to 'witch hunt' usually based on the politics of envy.

I am with you all the way on this, when I headlined my question it was rather tongue in the cheek.
Inquiries of this kind are a complete waste of money and time, if someone is thought to be doing anything illegal, then they should be treated the same as the masses, and that is to be investigated by the police and the public prosecutor charged and sent for trial.
