surely it is *all* forms of extremism and bigotry we need to be 'concerned' about, not the colour of any/all peoples' skins!
AOG - we need clarification on racism and faith there. To be an 'Islamophobe' is not the same as being racist surely?
>The Daily Telegraph understands the police moved over fears that a group had obtained a sword which could potentially be used in a terrorist attack. <

do you need a licence to buy a sword now ?
Religionist? Faithist? Beliefist? Not got the same headline grabbing appeal as racist. Colours and creeds all overlap. People, not statistics or ticks in boxes. There are people who are a threat to society (definition of society needed). Anyone who attacks or conspires to attack another human being unlawfully should be aware of and prepared to face the consequences of the law. People are just that, living individuals, not generalisations. Rant over.
"AOG its is a fact that almost everyday in NI that a pipe bomb or bomb scare happens - how many have you heard off?"

This is NOT a fact.

Ah, the word racism gets banded about so often these days I forgot that there was a separate word (Islamophobe) for those who dare speak out about Muslims or Islam.

I wonder if there is a label we can attach to all those who hate the British or Christianity?
Anti-Christian and Anglophobe.

Thanks for that, yes one can put 'anti' in front of most things that one is against, but I must admit I had never heard the word 'Anglophobe' before.

I wonder why it isn't used very much, after all there are a lot of 'Angophobics about?
Flipping heck are we all phobes?
Think I must be a Murrayphobe.
There are plenty of anglophobes about?

Perhaps the word hasn't taken off due to the amount of anti-Muslim stories that we see in the papers each day. Because of the volume of stories, a name is required for those who hate, mistrust or feel antipathy towards Islam in the same way that we need an all-encompassing word for those who feel the same about gay men and lesbians (we have 'homophobia, but there's no need for heterophobia, because gays don't beat up, bully, preach against or kill straights because of their sexuality).

By the way, try not to be too swayed by the current 'Christians are being persecuted' stories. Some newspapers are spinning the story to suit their own agendas:

sp, why should we be labelled if we mistrust or feel antipathy towards something surely the only word that should be used is "opinion" not a phobe
of course it's not - Muslims come in all shapes, sizes and colour, as to Christians (to name but one other religion).
