We must be paying thousands of pounds to provide security against a terrorist attack during the Olympics, and it is money well spent if it protects all those attending the Olympics.

But it makes one wonder if they have closed the gate after the horse has bolted, when one reads the extraordinary record of just this one suspect.

That much ?
millions on security, not thousands.
BBC report.

Security costs from the Olympics budget have risen from £282m to £553m.
If our worst enemies are thick enough to scout targets whilst wearing an electronic tag which tracks his movements then I suspect we will have the same number of terrorist attacks that we saw during the Jubilee celebrations.

We should not be complacent, and be vigilant at all times, but the use of the words 'suspected' and 'allegedly' liberally sprinkled around this article (plus the absence of the suspect's name) registers red on my bullsh...ometer.

I remember that case, but didn't know this little detail:

They later discovered he was in police custody again after being caught driving while banned and without insurance

...trying to work out how he operated the foot pedals??
not funny really x

What's really not funny is that we have adults in a position of authority who lack basic common sense.

Even if the prosthetic looked as real as Heather MacCartney's (and I've seen her's up close, and it's amazingly life-like), the feel of it should've given it away (together with any patient records the officers should have had).
Someone whose movements are tracked 24/7 on GPS is not a terrorist suspect. He is someone taking the p*ss out of the security services. To report this as a viable threat is laughable. That anyone believes he is a threat just goes to prove how gullible some people are.
And these are the terrorists we know about. They should put a warning on every olympic ticket that their life may be endangered if attending.
Same warning on a bus ticket ?

Plane ticket ?

Have warnings along the path of the road ?

Crossing this road could kill you
