Why do people in Birmingham not like Londoners retireing there.
98 Answers
My husband and myself worked in London and have London accents.
Our son and daughter went to Birmingham University and obtained employment in Birmingham so we decided to retire in Birmingham.
We have been in Birmingham for 18 months and pay our way using our pensions paid from London often using London bank cards and cheques.
On 3 occasions we have had people complain we should not retire in Birmingham as we have never contributed to Birmingham.
If this is right why were we allowed to buy a bungalow in Birmingham using some of the proceeds from our London home sale and why have people been willing to take our London pension money in payment for goods and services.

I think you are talking rubbish!
I am from the midlands and they are accepting of people from anywhere in the world. Birmingham has a huge immigrant population.
If they are not accepting you it is possibly because you walk around with a superior attitude. You are no better that the locals just because you hail from London.

Well, some people are unhappy in their lives and will take that out on anybody on any excuse. Most Brummies are friendly.
You are contributing to Birmingham's finances, if you have a home there. You pay Council Tax, you use local businesses and services, employ local people directly or indirectly. What's more, it's certain that you've been doing so in the past since every Council receives money from the government
